Why the Critics deviated from the Globes only for Gladstone??

_Best Actress in Leading Role: Emma Stone - Poor Things
She didn't win this award for La La Land in 2017.

Great speech by Emma. Nice little moment between Lily and Emma too.

Worth noting Chumps choice is particularly off when predicting the Oscar in this category since 2010 they've gone 7/13

Said it before. Paul is winning SAG. Everybody loves that guy.

Said it before. Paul is winning SAG. Everybody loves that guy. Yeah, I think Cooper's lost too much momentum and Giamatti's peaking at the perfect time for it. Murphy likely takes BAFTA, making it a nailbiter to the win.

Nah, the Critics are clearly trying to shake up the race but Gladstone will take the SAG.

Nah, the Critics are clearly trying to shake up the race but Gladstone will take the SAG. Generally, this group doesn't try to "shake up" the race.

Giamatti could go on to win the Oscar - like Fraser. If Oppenheimer is going to trip, it will be here and screenplay.

If Giamatti wins SAG (which is quite likely; he's won 4 times there - they love him to bits) I think he goes all the way. And he would make a fantastic winner. Better than Murphy imo.

Both Giamatti and Murphy would make great (and slightly unique) winners.

Both Giamatti and Murphy would make great (and slightly unique) winners. Yeah a rare race where I’d be very happy with either winner

Mark my words, Murphy will still win the Oscar. And I think he'll win SAG and BAFTA, but I have him winning the Oscar even IF he loses SAG.
Best Actress is still Stone v. Gladstone dead heat, but I'll give the Oscar edge to whichever one wins at SAG.
OPPY, Nolan, RDJ, and Randolph are LOCKS.

Oh I would say it would be nice if Giamatti doesn't win SAG or the Oscar - because I was selling both of those things in August - and I can be fncking insufferable Side note: Giamatti is also with just 1 nod somehow more overdue than 4 time nominee Cooper is / was which doesn't actually make "math" sense .........but hey.......here we are and the math ain't mathin' and what not......... 2023 Best Actor Aug 15, 2023 Now having said that I could certainly see him winning - he has 4 SAG Awards already ffs - 4 (?!? edit Jan 14 2024 :1 is ensemble) .......

Nono, hear me out, if SAG goes its way and gives it to Cooper, now we have a three way race.

I knew they'd give original screenplay to Barbie and VFX to Oppenheimer to spite the Oscars. Those petty bitches

I still think Murphy takes the Oscar. The Academy rarely rewards comedic performances but i'd be happy with a Giamatti win too.

No surprise they went for the predictable and boring Barbenheimer sweep. At least their lead acting choices are a bit more interesting.

I think I'd lean towards predicting Cooper to win tonight. Voting the winners I believe opened up for them on Jan 2nd, the globes ceremony was on the 7th. This group is such a thirsty predict-the-oscars hivemind. I think enough of them voted the first few days before the ceremony. Had voting opened up after the globes, Giamatti or probably Murphy is who'd they'd gravitate towards. Maestro couldn't even win Hair/Makeup here. Happy for it. Hope Oscars and Baftas shun it as well.
