Tonight is the 29th annual Critics Choice Awards. Last week, we had the Golden Globe awards. Oppenheimer was the big winner, taking home 5 awards for Drama, Director, Drama Actor (Murphy), Supporting Actor (Downey), and Original Score. Poor Things won Comedy/Musical and Actress in a Comedy/Musical (Stone). The Holdovers took Best Actor in a Comedy/Musical (Giamatti) and Supporting Actress (Randolph). What do you expect with the Critics Choice awards tonight?
My predictions:
Film - Oppenheimer Director - St. Christopher Actor - Murphy Actress - Gladstone Supporting Actor - Downey
Supporting Actress - Randolph Adapted Screenplay - St. Christopher Original Screenplay - Hemingson Film Editing - Lame Animated Feature - Spider-Man Foreign Language Film - Anatomy of a Fall
Barbie - Song (Ellish/Finneas), Production Design, Costume, Comedy Maestro - Makeup/Hairstyle Oppy - Cinematography, Score, Visual Effects
Young Actor/Actress - Sessa
Ensemble - Oppy

Most years I really can’t give a shit about these frauds but I’m a little more interested because the WGA got moved until after the Oscars. This will be one of the few places there will be the two separate categories and I’m curious what will happen in those races. That being said I’m watching football instead.

Yes, I will be watching the NFL instead of this, just like I did with the Globes. It's a shame that the WGA awards got moved AFTER the Oscars. The date is like mid-April. I use the WGA as a key Oscar indicator for both screenplay and best picture. Whoever wins the Best Original Screenplay Critics Choice is probably winning the Oscar, unless it is Barbie, for obvious reasons.

Jennifer Lame, the Oppy Editor. I am going to refer to her as Jennifer Awesome from now on. Just like I called Jane Campion, Jane Champion.

I think I'd lean towards predicting Cooper to win tonight. Voting the winners I believe opened up for them on Jan 2nd, the globes ceremony was on the 7th. This group is such a thirsty predict-the-oscars hivemind. I think enough of them voted the first few days before the ceremony. Had voting opened up after the globes, Giamatti or probably Murphy is who'd they'd gravitate towards.

Nah mate, this group (or its top brass which, according to my conspiracy theory, actually decides on the winners) is very aware of what's trending and whatnot, Murphy is totally someone they'd pick.

I would love to see Cooper win, but I think Murphy is the favorite to win at CC. Now, SAG might be a different story though.

The Critics Choice awards have a habit of only doing speeches for picture, director, and acting awards. The others are passed out off screen. Pretty poor show. If you thought the Globes and Jo Koy was bad, CCA is much worse.
