Interesting... the love for B&W is always strong with these guys.

LACHMAN! Hell yes.
Fuck off, Libatique.
Also very pleased at no double Prieto.

YAY Lachman!! I think Barbie or Zone of Interest takes the 5th spot at the Oscars but this is probably our top 5. I mean just looking at the trailer I'd guess Laustsen still has a shot but it's clear the industry doesn't want to recognize Color Purple outside of Brooks and Barrino, and if the voters have any taste Saltburn should still be in the game too, but this looks like a pretty straightforward race with a predetermined Oppy streak.

I think AMPAS drops Lachman, and Zal takes that spot.

I think AMPAS drops Lachman, and Zal takes that spot. Dunno man, I think EL Conde fits the mold of their typical nominees way more than Zone. That one is more of an interesting achievement with its remote, almost hidden camera-style shooting way, whereas El Conde is striking B&W. AMPAS doesn't really go for experimental stuff here.

The temptation would be to say El Conde out and that’s our five. However, Lachman is a beloved vet and it’s showy as hell from what I’ve seen. This isn’t Cherry 2.0 in my opinion. Maybe more Bardo?

I think El Conde is looking pretty strong. Oscars usually like foreign language films more than ASC.

ASC's one of the best precursors in terms of predicting the academy, so I'd say this is probably the five.

Having now watched El Conde, it's totally in. I didn't know it was quite this showy.
