Bergman Tarkovsky Dreyer Bresson Kieślowski Malick
Aside from Malick (only love A Hidden Life), I'm a big fan of all these filmmakers.

Bergman Bresson Dreyer Malick Tarkovsky
Don't feel comfortable including Kieslowski as I've only seen 1 of his films.

Ready for a spicy take? Shyamalan kicks the asses of Bergman, Bresson and Dreyer (I'd put him above Malick too - and maybe even the others). Nevermind that he's not Christian or raised Christian, it is enough that he went to Catholic school and has made movies explicitly (Signs) and implicitly (Knock at the Cabin, The Village) about faith.

All top tier filmmakers, except maybe Malick (still great though).
Bergman Kieslowski Bresson Tarkovsky Dreyer (hard to rank. has the best movie out of all of them, with Ordet, but I haven’t seen enough) Malick
