When more than one acclaimed performance is present in a film, given by actors of the same gender, it seems that the trio of European festivals (Berlin, Cannes, Venice) will award their acting prize jointly - consider Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore, and Meryl Streep all being honored for The Hours at Berlin (just one of many examples).
There have been times where, surprisingly, just one cast member was singled out, though - could we compile a list of times where that has happened?
I'll start:
2018 Venice: Olivia Colman, The Favourite (no Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz?) 2015 Cannes: Rooney Mara, Carol (no Cate Blanchett?) 2003 Venice: Sean Penn, 21 Grams (no Benicio del Toro?) 1997 Berlin: Juliette Binoche, The English Patient (no Kristin Scott Thomas?) 1988 Cannes: Barbara Hershey, Shy People (no Jill Clayburgh and Martha Plimpton?)

2007 Venice: Brad Pitt won for The Assassination of Jesse James, but Casey Affleck, who acted him off the screen, didn't win. Idk what pill the jury were on. This is the one that makes no sense at all.
2011 Cannes: Kirsten Dunst won for Melancholia. Charlotte Gainsbourg blanked.
1977 Cannes: Shelley Duvall won for 3 Women, Sissy Spacek blanked.

Hurt's one of my all-time favourite winners but if ever there needed to a joint Oscar given out, it was that year.
