A yellow layer cake with chocolate fudge frosting is such a tradition in the Southern United States, but I think Smith Island, Maryland may have perfected the recipe... Only a handful of states actually have an official State Dessert, so this is quite a neat designation. Would you like to try a slice? Would you prefer to have yours with a glass of milk or a cup of coffee? Edit: Tagging mikediastavrone96

Looks too sweet and rich. Good desserts are only moderately sweet, imo

I'm not much of a chocolate dessert guy, but I've had it and it's pretty damn good. It's especially impressive to me just how layered it is and the layers are so thin it ensures each bite has variety.
As for my drink preference, I've never had coffee so I opt for a glass of milk.
