He typically never goes if he's not nominated for something. I remember he was there to give Emma Stone her Oscar the year after The Revenant, but that may be it. I'm not sure he shows up even to get praised by Gladstone from the podium (if she's winning).

I do think he would be there if for no other reason than Scorsese and especially Gladstone stand good shots at recognition, and it would be pretty poor form not to show up just because he missed a nomination. Don't Look Up undershot expectations so his absence wouldn't be as remarkable as him ghosting for a top contender for above-the-line categories. He's in a different phase in his career than he was when he didn't show up for Titanic.

He's never had a top 5 contender since then that he hasn't been nominated for or nominated for an adjacent film the same season (Blood Diamond).

Probably will if Gladstone looks like she's in winning contention, no if not. BUT, I think it's probably wishful thinking to believe he'll get snubbed. I mean since the 2000's if his film is in the top five he gets nominated unless he has internal competition (Day-Lewis, Waltz), maybe you can argue Inception, however the acting in the film wasn't focused upon even early in that season.

Why would he miss??
He's fourth behind Cooper, Murphy, and maybe Giamatti.

He won't have to think about that.

Guys, he could get snubbed. It would be egregious given how bad Cooper is in Maestro, but it's very possible. Murphy/Cooper/Giammati/Wright/Scott with even Rustin as an alternate.

He won't have to think about that. I am not sure why people think he's going to get left off the Best Actor list.

Anybody could get "snubbed". Tom Hanks didn't get in for Captain Phillips, despite being nominated for all four precursor awards. Honestly I think he's pretty safe here: Real-life person, wears a lot of make-up, strong Best Picture contender, and plays a dolt.

I am not even sure if he misses it actually is a snub tbh - I guess it would be this year - but not every miss is a snub - but that's an over-used term nowadays that's come to be the equivalent of just missing.......everybody misses - that's why Oscar nominations - Streep excepted - are so tight.........everybody hits a wall.....
But I don't think he's missing anyway....
I said this a long time ago - the only way he had a chance of missing imo was if Keoghan was a contender and then you'd have 3 villains (sort of) out of 5 nominees but that's not in play so he's fine I reckon

I think he'll go because Gladstone probably wins and Scorsese has a chance to win as a producer.

I would cream my pants if both DiCaprio and Cooper get snubbed. Do you see a scenario for Cooper getting snubbed? Unfortunately, not really. They were both snubbed 2 years ago but I don't see it happening with their films this year. Maestro is a complete piece of shit but it seems like the industry really loves it. Killers of the Flower Moon is very well-loved so I don't see DiCaprio snubbed either.

I haven’t seen Wright or Domingo yet but I did fine\d Leo to be uneven in KotFM so I’m not too upset about him missing. I’m not actively happy about it either, unlike some I don’t really get rooting against him.

I've been trying to tell people for a few years now that DiCaprio doesn't hold the same sway with AMPAS that Nicholson did, and Denzel currently does. For someone who Oscarbaits pretty much with every film for his entire career, he misses a lot. And now the misses are becoming more conspicuous. I think he's hit that wall that a lot of successful actors with AMPAS do, where voters feel like they've seen most of your tricks and it becomes harder and harder to impress ( it happened to Tom Hanks and many others).
That's not to say he won't get nominated again. He will. Hell, He could even win again. But it's going to be harder than people ever thought, even with all the auteurs he lines up and Best Picture movies he's in. Leo doesn't give voters enough time for them to miss him, the way Daniel Day-Lewis did ( or the way Denzel does, by going off and doing some action films before oscarbaiting again). The notion that he was just going to easily blitz his way to matching or surpassing Nicholson's nomination record was always far-fetched. Denzel is still the only actor who has any realistic hope of doing that.

He should attend....it has nothing to do with snubs and dumb shit - Oscars are not (ever, period - an artistic barometer - they are an incestuous mix of Prom, Booty Call and Fashion Show).......he wants to make (Oscar) Product so it doesn't matter how many you get, it matters how many you MISS and if you start missing the party - they'll remember somebody else so suck their giant phallus............ so on your knees and fellate the penis on some level you have been gagging for (Arctic Monkeys reference) Suggestion though -Skip the show, attend the parties and slowly poison everyone

Skipping it would be an alpha move, but Gladstone will probably guilt him into showing up.

Isn't he nominated as a producer anyway??
He won't show up at the Oscars and SAG because he's shooting the new PTA film right now.
