Um........you've got to be kidding: On MAR:* The fear of if I die / leave this board - it will be a cesspool of hive minded wackadoodles who amuse themselves with Oscar prognosticating (why?), Leftist REgressive Political Dumbfuckery, zero - and I mean literally - zero - good new bands ever being spoken about......not on my watch! * The Novak Djokovic Principle of Keyser Soze Like Revenge : "Australia and the US locked me out..........ok, .I'll just win Australia and the US and everything else" - Ummmmmmmmm you get the idea....... * Astonishing pettiness ..........I mean it's a badge of honor tbh.......have you ever seen me "let something slide" on MAR? It may take a while but..........I never, ever do........I don't hate anybody on MAR - seriously I don't - but your opinions are fncking horrifying ........and by that I mean it starts with Robert Downey in Chaplin and gets worse for Godsakes......... In Life:
* It's tricky........Work, fun, love, family, God (oh he's real atheist fnckwad, he's real) - your Life's your Own and it is also not............grow up..........you have people depending on you .........have a purpose ffs............to your wife, lover, mistress (um), children, parents, Faith, family, employers ........never think life is about you ..........it's more about.......um, well.......me really .........kidding........maybe.......

On the board: Where else am I going to find out about Underground or have someone recommend that I get through the filmography of S.S. Rajamouli or encourage me to watch a 14 hour movie made by some "experimental" losers in Argentina? I wouldn't have discovered so many of my favorite films if it weren't for hanging around here. IRL: The hope of things getting better. I was in a bad place for a long time, and I'm slowly - frustratingly slowly - trying to get out of it. I don't know if I'll ever have a normal life, but I've gotten to the point where I'm no longer in denial or wallowing in self-pity.

Don't know anything about him but he seems very Punk Rock - they call him "the wild man", crazy hair, yells a lot .....every band needs a good frontman and just try to tell me that The Anarcho-Capitalists wouldn't be a tremendous Punk Rock name .............certainly better than the shitty hippie bands that Argentina has produced in the past like The Diversity Socialist Agrarian Farmers or The Global Warming Hugs of Inclusion........I mean those bands were just awful ............. Across his shop were signs of the spiraling economic crisis and 140 percent inflation that has convulsed Argentina and catapulted Mr. Milei, a self-described “anarcho-capitalist” libertarian who wants to replace the peso with the U.S. dollar, to Argentina's highest office. - NY Times

Don't you find it imbalanced or unfair?

I guess for my kids and wife, but I enjoy life in general.

Don't you find it imbalanced or unfair? Sure, but why should we expect it to be fair? We don't hold that expectation with anything else, really. We should always strive towards more equity, but to despair at the lack of it is just pissing in the wind imo.

Don't you find it imbalanced or unfair? Like in general or for any of us individually?

Oh honey, World Domination should be an option on that list.
But seriously why wake up everyday? Because there are always inane fun things to do... oh and tequila shots!

Well I can spend my days miserable and upset about horrible situations that are outside of my control and I can’t change, or I can focus on my own life and those around me and be happy.

Enjoying life, enjoying food, loving my closest ones and my cat - all of those, sure! But le cinéma is a HUGE component as well. We are on a movie board, after all Giving up would mean not watching new Spielberg films, not looking forward to Naoko Yamada's next, not exploring more of Nobuhiko Obayashi's filmography... and to the nightmare I've just described I say FUCK THAT.

The reason that I don't instantly jump on the general enjoyment train is that, I'm afraid you'll eventually grow tired of the daily things; like your favorite snack or movies (the latter has happened to me certainly still love to nag about it tho!)... to endure all of this - to quote Louie CK - "life shit" just to get back home to your pet or series (I'm far from my family, but let's not pretend it's 100/100 fun and games with your family members all the time anyway)... is it really worth it? / well, I can try a new hobby, like gardening... and take time to make new friends, like good folks do. Please do not think I (ever) intend to be a downer whenever I post a thread like this, but I don't think I'm the only one who often feels this way. Look at the results here; of those who voted we -as a whole- don't rush to self-destruct either because we fear it or because of our family and loved ones (i.e people other than ourselves)... and yet hanging on hope seems like the most natural thing... maybe keep going without thinking about these things is the ideal way. (these two quotes of his give me peace... one validates your blue mood the other suggest you to look somewhere else, broaden your perspective)

Having thousands of movies in my watchlist weirdly helps. It's taken me 3+ years to work through the 50s, and I still wanna do a 90s revisit which will be hundreds of more movies and still have lots from the 60s 70s and 80s to see, and then there's the 40s, 30s and 20s which are virtually untouched decades for me. That gives me something to do that distracts from the void

Another great quote on this stuff is by Kant btw - who weirdly, ironically actually Could This is great reading in general from his book Critique of Pure Reason - essential reading btw - which is very wise but then 2 years later my asshole college professor just made us all read Nietzsche and the young and hopeful class of 1847 just became a hopeless bunch of fncking pessimists tbh
