Napoleon could actually relatively over perform given those numbers.

Looks like Ridley's got a solid hit at the end of his career.

Honestly pretty shocked Napoleon is currently beating out a Disney flick.

Honestly pretty shocked Napoleon is currently beating out a Disney flick. I'm not. Disney has been putting a shotgun in its mouth and firing it with each movie this year

Do not underestimate Napoleon’s star power. The man is a franchise onto himself

Honestly pretty shocked Napoleon is currently beating out a Disney flick. Napoleon isn't really beating Wish, but it's doing much better than a film of its type normally would, which is embarrassing for the later film.

I was assuming Napoleon would be another Last Duel situation, couldn't imagine a critical mass of people would be interested. Good to see it doing better than expected although I'd still imagine with the massive budget it will technically end up as a "flop".

I mean, it's the same budget and studio/platform as Killers Of The Flower Moon (which is relative to budget, is a massive flop, but seems to be getting a huge pass in the media for said floppage, as nobody wants to upset Scorsese or cast doubt on Leo being able to make anything into a hit). Napoleon might not make a profit in theatrical release, but it'll definitely make a lot more than KOTFM. And it'll probably at least make back it's budget in theatrical before it hits Apple +. This is actually quite impressive for Phoenix. It suggests that post- Joker, in the right kind of role/vehicle, he may actually be becoming a draw/movie star. He may need to start doing less of these niche projects that audiences aren't interested in like Beau Is Afraid to consolidate that, but it's a start.

Do not underestimate Napoleon’s star power. The man is a franchise onto himself Not sure I agree with this. Sure, the character of Napoleon appears in a lot of films ( Bill And Ted, anyone?), but the last huge big budget English language production actually about Napoleon before Ridley's was Waterloo in 1970 ( starring Rod Steiger as Napoleon and Christopher Plummer as the Duke Of Wellington), and it was a huge failure at the box office and stopped Stanley Kubrick from ever getting his own dream project about Napoleon funded by studios. In Hollywood, a big budget Napoleon film has always been seen as a risky and expensive endeavour. You need someone with Ridley Scott's clout and respect as a big budget prestige filmmaker to get a Napolean film made. He's not been seen as a sure thing at the box office in modern times at all.

The thing is it's a hit relative to the type of movie it is, since non franchise fare more adult skewing fare has a considerable hill to climb. It does make me think that Gladiator 2 could surprise everyone, though.

Wow Napoleon is actually slightly beating Wish, that's kind of uh a little bit stunning. Neither's beating the latest Hunger Games, though.

That global take is pretty impressive.....
Deadline: Ridley Scott’s Napoleon has exceeded expectations with $78.8M global across the five-day opening frame, including $46.3M from the international box office. This is higher than the Friday estimate (see below), and well above pre-weekend projections.

Wow, with those international numbers it could make a run at 300 mil would would be a success even with the budget. Is there any demographic info? Men vs women and age? This kind of movie so seldom makes this kind of money I'm interested in seeing why.
