Hmmmmmmmm - Fiennes is too old for Macbeth also - like Washington was - but 2/3rds of Washington's Macbeth worked (the middle, not so much) and Fiennes is 60 ffs ..........but this cuts some of the ages of each lead down a bit so ...........um, ok, sure why not ..........let's see what they got: Ralph Fiennes and Indira Varma are to star in a new site-specific production of Macbeth staged in warehouses in Liverpool, Edinburgh, London and Washington DC.
The production will reunite the actors with Simon Godwin, who directed them in an acclaimed staging of Man and Superman at the National Theatre in London in 2015.
Fiennes takes on the title role after playing a host of Shakespearean leads on stage in Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Richard III and Antony and Cleopatra (in a 2018 production also directed by Godwin). In 2011 he starred in his own film version of Coriolanus, shot in Serbia and resonating with modern-day conflicts.

Why on earth would the people producing this schedule it the same season another major production of Macbeth is out The success and the Olivier nominations of David Tennant's version have really overshadowed Ralph Fiennes effort, in spite of good reviews. It feels like an afterthought. Really silly decision making and you have to feel bad for Fiennes.

So stupid ^ Fiennes obviously has different commercial intentions - .......he's doing it in the US LONGER than London and not even New York .........we have NO WAY of knowing whether he will stage it again anyway .......like Rylance (among others) often does....... Calm down ffs Liverpool Nov 18 - 20; Edinborough Jan 12-27; London Feb 10-23; Washington DC Aprl 9-May 5
