On your TV? On your computer? Or maybe, to quote David Lynch, on your fucking telephone? Are you okay with stopping the movie and doing something else or do you need to see the whole thing from beginning to end without any interruptions? Maybe you put your movies on as background while doing your domestic chores? Do you use headphones or are your neighbors ready to hang themselves because of your awesome goddamn speaker system? Spill the beans, MAR!

At home it's like 80% / 20% TV vs. computer - usually the only time I will watch something on the computer is if my gf doesn't want to watch and it's not like an "epic" that "needs" a big screen ......or a rewatch - I just rewatched a sort of masterpiece on my computer this week: The Goat Horn 1972 (Koziyat rog) - but if I had never seen it.........I'd watch it on my TV Never headphones - never headphones for music either btw - my neighbors aren't that close and I live in a house not an apartment.........when I had my old job I would sometimes stop a movie and then return back to it a few hours later .......a real bad habit of this watching some movies in "shifts" .......haven't done that in the past couple months......I try to not watch movies as "background" I live like 2 minutes from a theater and a lot of the colleges (and Art houses) are around me so on some level I tell myself that one day almost ALL movie watching will be "outside the house" ........um......but not there yet....

On my one of my tv’s or on my iPad while working out (generally watch a lot of 90’s action or comedy flicks that’s I’ve already seen when exercising). Movies I want to get fully immersed in I have to watch after my kids go to bed or if I have a rare day of the house to myself.

TV, and I usually set to give it my attention, though I'm cool with bathroom breaks when necessary. If I just want background noise, then I pull up YouTube on my laptop.

Usually the TV, sometimes my laptop. I often take a break or two, because I'm always fucking tired. Also, since moving house it's been harder to enjoy watching things during the day because even with every single blind close, it's still too bright.

TV. No headphones. My cable has the stop/go back function, and I can watch them for a week after they're shown.

On my TV as much as possible, but lately I’ve been in the habit of using my laptop with headphones since I often like to watch late at night and I don’t want to disturb my wife asleep in the other room since she has to wake up earlier than me. I’ll still watch stuff on the TV when she’s asleep, but only if it’s a movie where I don’t mind keeping the volume soft.
I try not to stop a movie unless absolutely necessary, like if I need to leave the house or if I’m just too tired to stay awake. I don’t think I’ve ever put a movie on as background.

Probably something like 60% computer, 30% TV and 10% phone. The amount of attention I give the movie kind of depends on what it is, but generally I try to be more or less fully attentive. I have absolute no problem with taking breaks though, and do it all the time. I'll often treat movies like TV shows, watching portions at a time, with no problem starting something new when I haven't finished something else. I'm sure a lot of people take issue with this, but I have a short attention span and it works for me. And I almost always use headphones when I'm watching alone.

At this point I'm all over the fucking place watching movies at home. Sometimes I will really set aside the time to watch on TV and pay attention to it, but most of the time I just don't have the interest or energy anymore to give things a "proper shot" just for the principle of the thing. Often I'll watch chunks of things on my phone when I have time over the course of a week. I don't care, David Lynch.
It occurred to me at some point that my fondness for movies depends more on how they live in my head than how I saw them in reality, and I have seen too many all-time favorites at this point on tinier screens than my current smartphone. I think also Paul Thomas Anderson saying his movie habits with life and kids often come down to just leaving TCM on and soaking things in here and there that way helped justify it for me. It doesn't really matter, if I'm watching something on my phone and it's turning me on, I'll watch it again and again in different settings. If it sucks, the optimal experience wouldn't help.
