A great way to spend a rainy day is watching some good old fashion television. I finished up watching Bad Sisters this morning, and what a great show. I have seen a lot of television shows since 2020, and this one ranks in my top ten. Apple continues to produce quality television. Without getting into spoiler territory, the show is about five sisters who made a pledge to stick together no matter what after their parents passed away. One of the sisters' husband, JP or "The Prick", passes away. The police say it was an accident, but two pesky insurance claim brothers believe otherwise.
One of the great virtues of the show is how well they develop each sister. Each episode we get to learn more about the sisters and their possible motivation for killing "The Prick". The show also does a great job of using two timelines and have them eventually merge together. We learn what happened before and after "The Prick" got killed/passed away.
The Emmys nominated the show for Best Director in a Drama Series and Best Writing in a Drama Series for the pilot episode. Sharon Horgan got nominated for Best Actress in a Drama and for co-writing the pilot episode. I say the show definitely deserved their nominations, plus more. No Drama Series? No Supporting Actress for Eve Hewson, Sarah Greene, or Anne-Marie Duff? No Supporting Actor nod for Daryl McCormack or Claes Bang? I know, I know I am getting ahead of myself. Emmy voters loaded up their ballots for White Lotus and Succession nods. Anybody else seen the show? If so, did you figure out the twist? I figured out most of the twist, but got some details wrong.
