I didn't realize we didn't have a thread about this one, considering it is incredibly baity stuff with a pretty strong cast backing it up. It is the tragic story of the Von Erich clan of wrestlers, who suffered as much grief and misery as any famous family in modern America. If anyone wants a quick recap of this story, check out the first of the stellar six-part takedown on Vince McMahon that Robert Evans did on his podcast, Behind the Bastards. This could be a sleeper -- especially now that Jeremy Allen White is real hot right now, and Harris Dickinson is on the rise.  |

Holt McCallany plays Big Daddy in this which is a great role irl and could be the sleeper role as......... Fritz Von Erich - he is so perfect it's almost funny........lots of wrestlers are characters here too Michael Hayes, Flair, Race, Brody.........which should be cool......MJF plays Lance (?!?) Side note:: You can actually make a whole different movie with this cast but make it about someone else - Gino Hernandez who was sort of like Flair and a precursor to Shawn Michaels and is one of the most underrated wrestlers of all-time.....but nobody would go to the Gino Hernandez Story except me tbh  He was a star and if you know he milked this photo in interviews to great in character effect - seriously - top 5 on the mic ......

It doesn't really look like Oscar bait... but it does look like *quality.* The release date is strange to me - a movie like this would probably need October or November to build up steam - but I'm hoping that it gets pushed for awards.

Just as an fyi, my friend saw this today and said the "Gino Hernandez" character ^ is in the film a bit - I don't think this was on the IMDB page at the time of this post of mine ...........looking forward to this and Amercan Fiction still of 2023 English language films |
