Please pick five nominees.
PREVIOUS WINNER Rachel Brosnahan, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel - 2018
SAG NOMINEES Christina Applegate, Dead to Me Quinta Brunson, Abbott Elementary Jenna Ortega, Wednesday
CRITICS CHOICE / GOLDEN GLOBE NOMINEES Selena Gomez, Only Murders in the Building
Devery Jacobs, Reservation Dogs
OTHER Linda Cardellini, Dead to Me (2020 Best Actress nominee)
Natasia Demetriou, What We Do in the Shadows (Popular Show) Elle Fanning, The Great (2022 Emmy nominee) Natasha Lyonne, Poker Face (Popular Show)
Without Jean Smart in the line-up, does this mean Gomez will finally get in?

1. Brunson 2. Ortega 3. Applegate 4. Brosnahan 5. Lyonne 6. Fanning
Gomez the obvious spoiler but no one else seems close to me. Cardellini maybe. The comedy field for leading men and women is pretty weak this year.

With Jean out Quinta has to be the frontrunner.

Tommen_Saperstein, mhynson27, quetee - I deleted the original poll. I found out there's only going to be 5 nominees, not 6. Please re-enter your predictions. My order: 1. Brunson 2. Ortega 3. Applegate 4. Brosnahan 5. Lyonne The first four are pretty much locks. Last one is a close call between Lyonne and Fanning. Whenever that happens, I go with the new kid on the block.

same 5 with Fanning and Gomez as the spoilers. I don't know why the Emmys are so stingy this year

The Academy (Emmy) recently released their eligibility list, and the number of nominees/slots depends on submission number. Definitely prefer the Oscar standard - consistent from year to year and applies evenly. This is my second year predicting the Emmys, so it's something I need to get used to.

For this category, do we all agree that the 5th slot could be Lyonne, Gomez or Fanning? I have seen Season 2 of OMITB. It's a really good show and Gomez pairs extremely well with Martin and Short.

they could easily nominate 6. Well yeah sure, but they're not just going to change their own rules on a whim. Christopher Rosen and Joyce Eng pointed out below that for the comedy acting categories, they just barely missed the submission threshold for 6 lead and 8 supporting. This basically means that Gomez, Segel, Glover, and the two The Great leads will have a tougher time getting in. We could see Emmy voters preferring Martin over Short or vice verse. I am not sure if I agree with the concept that Bill Hader is going to get the axe.
