I’ve always found horror long form tv a little lacking on scares. What are some individual episodes that worked on you?
For me the reason I made this thread is “Jig-a-Bobo” from Lovecraft Country. Those dancing girls fucked me up.

"Lamentation" from Millennium is the gold standard for me.

"Something Very Expensive" from Deadwood season 2 takes the cake for me. Francis Wolcott sets himself loose on the town after episodes of build up and it's stomach-churning.

"Rains of Castemere" is a masterclass of slow-building, nauseating dread. If we're talking horror, honestly probably something from Bly Manor or Hill House (no one does it like Flanagan) but no particular eps come to mind. First season of Yellowjackets had some spooky highlights. The premier which has all those terrifying flashbacks that set the stage for the whole story and show the unrecognizably unhinged violence that's coming, but the scariest IMO was ep. 6 ("Saints"). Taissa is the spookiest character in the modern day cast. The reveal with her in the tree... ugh *shivers* there's not enough scary TV...

Doctor Who has some of the best for me, but the downright scariest is Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead.
Sapphire and Steel is a horror show I especially loved, but it is more abstract than most horror shows. Assignment 2 (the soldier in the train station) and assignment 4 (the faceless man) are the most chilling.
A homemade trailer for the fourth assignment:

*that* episode in The Return left me in utter shock and wonder rather than "terror". It was season 2 that gave me hell a number of times. Episodes 1, 2, 7 and of course the finale. Sheryl Lee's screams won't leave me till my last day on earth... good times, good times...

Man, there were some scary moments in Twin Peaks - all related to Bob - but the stuff in the Black Lodge is just (unintentionally?) funny to me.

Oh my God. Of course, it would be something from Twin Peaks. My mind was heading towards the first time we see Bob in the original. And to think that guy was just the set designer.

Oh honeys horrific (especially all the whispering)Every time I hear that opening song I think of Mr. Bean and his cherishable performance of it.
