Really solid, as expected. Great ensemble with Chris Messina getting the funniest scene. Basically delivers exactly what it says it will. Very well made and enjoyable (dad) movie.

I’d probably rank it 4th out of Affleck’s films though. Only ahead of Live by Night.

I liked this. In particular a crackling script full of witty dialogue. Sorkinesque in that regard. Chris Tucker in particular was on fire with the lines they gave him, the "black people don't jog" quip and the rant about Adidas got huge laughs in my theater which you almost never hear anymore. Don't know if he's back on the standup circuit homing his comedic timing or what.
But Damon was the MVP for me, another one of those rock solid lead performances from him and I could see him slipping into the back end of my BA lineup at the end of the year and the movie in the top ten as well, especially considering the current state of cinema and how few truly good movies there are anymore. Affleck was fine in his role acting. This might be my favorite film from him directing, would need to watch Gone Baby Gone again to compare.
8/10

This was fine and watchable I guess, but still kind of a “who cares” success story where it was hard to really feel invested. There are worse ways to kill two hours, but it’s not something I’d have the urge to rewatch ever again. In principle, I don’t have an issue with Affleck choosing not to show MJ, but the fact that we see him from the back a lot like the movie is going out of its way to not show his face when he’s in the room just felt weird and awkward. Like having him turn away and not speak when the camera is on the actor seemed kind of comically artificial to me. Very strong dad movie vibes especially with the soundtrack consisting almost entirely of songs played all the time on my local classic rock radio station.

Damon and Affleck should just make all their movies together. I'll watch them all. Put Messina in all of them too.
I hope Artists Equity changes the industry as far as profit sharing among film crews go, particularly for streamers.

Just saw this today. Excellent. Entertaining, terrific performances, strong writing and direction. The film looks and feels like an 80s movie. Only thing they left was a freeze frame last season. Damon and Messina are the MVPs.

Probably Affleck's weakest film (but then again, I really liked Live By Night so take that as you will), but it's still a damn solid movie overall. I did find the needle-drops to be distracting and it was really noticeable to an almost laughable degree how much they blocked the scenes so we never saw Jordan's face. I did also think they could've limited the "What's it called?" "Air Jordan." reveal to one use. But beyond all of that, I had a great time. Messina stole the show but Damon was very good -- the last couple of years have really made me come around on an actor I used to find as bland as tapioca. He's like Redford in that respect.
Also, I want Marlon Wayans in a Safdie Bros. movie. I think he'd be great.

I am personally disgusted by Damon's big speech in this movie about "greatness" and how the greatest thing most people can have in life is a chance to be near someone like Michael Jordan. Fuck off.
The movie itself is bland white bread in every way - especially the obnoxious needle drops that were so damn predictable. Not a fan, easily Affleck's worst.
