Going for that Triple Crown all in his 70s..um........could easily see this transfer to Broadway at some pointSuccession star Brian Cox, who plays mogul Logan Roy in the HBO family drama, is to take on the role of another imposing patriarch on stage in London. The Scottish actor will appear in a new production of Eugene O’Neill’s play Long Day’s Journey Into Night, directed by Jeremy Herrin. He takes on the role of the fading performer James Tyrone whose family is wrecked by addiction, bitter rage and denial. Cox said it had long been an ambition of his to play the “flawed” lead and that he was “delighted to have the opportunity to do so on a West End stage”. He added: “I’m a great admirer of Jeremy Herrin’s work and I am looking forward to us delving into O’Neill’s masterpiece together.” www.theguardian.com/stage/2022/dec/15/brian-cox-west-end-in-long-days-journey-into-night-succession-james-tyrone

Patricia Clarkson is in this as well - full cast now - and if this is good, likely goes to Broadway if I had to bet......
Brian Cox and Patricia Clarkson will headline a new production of Eugene O’Neill’s Long Day’s Journey Into Night in the West End.
Directed by Jeremy Herrin, the drama will see Cox as James Tyrone, Clarkson as Mary Tyrone, Alex Lawther (The End of the F***ing World) as Edmund, Daryl McCormack (Good Luck to You, Leo Grande) as Jamie, and Louisa Harland (Derry Girls) as Cathleen. Lizzie Clachan is the scenic designer.
The production will begin previews at Wyndham’s Theatre on March 19, 2024, with opening night scheduled for April 2, 2024. Fifty seats will be available at £25 for every performance throughout the run, with tickets going on general sale on May 11
