Assuming he moves on from the role after another 5-ish years, do you see him competing with the Chalamet/Butler crowd for roles and perhaps beating them out at times and carving out a successful prestige career? Or will he keep trying to balance the occasional dramatic role while trying to headline various franchise/blockbuster projects?

Depends on his project selection, which seems really spotty. The times he's tried to branch out in smaller films during his Spider-Man run (Cherry, The Devil All the Time) have yielded mixed results. Chaos Walking was a bigger project that bombed hard, but it had COVID as a reasonable excuse. However Uncharted maybe and if so just barely avoiding being a flop doesn't exactly speak well for Holland's star power outside of the costume. He'll be in the mix for things because he's a name and I do think he has the talent to do something good in the right circumstances, but if neither The Crowded Room or the Astaire project pan out then he might be on the outside looking in on coveted roles.

He's a genuinely talented actor but he has has to start choosing his projects more wisely.I think he thought Cherry would be his Oscar play, and it turned out to be a disaster. He's not seen as a prestige actor, yet.Lets see how The Crowded Room is received. If he lands an Emmy nom, that could change things.

I personally think he's a more interesting actor than most give him credit for, but I think his biggest issue is his youthfulness. The guy looks perpetually seventeen and there are just not many great roles for that age range out there, and Peter Parker is just so intrinsically tied to him that any attempts to break the mold are hampered by the fact that he keeps making more Spider-Man movies. I think he'd be in a better place if he made a clean break from Marvel before doing things like The Devil All the Time (a movie I think he's actually good in, even though that film suffers from trying to do many disparate things in a single film's runtime). I actually thought he was pretty good in Uncharted and I think that shows he will likely be able to command a film as he ages, because the kid's got chops, likability, and screen presence to spare. But he's still too innocent-looking. Give him ten years and time may do him a world of good.

He needs to seriously branch out with the role selection. Until he does that I have no opinion.

He will be in a position to bring his maturing-with-him fanbase behind him to a lesser extent than DiCaprio (which would always be a rare enough phenomenon to repeat by anyone). He has solid chops, so it will have to be a balancing act between blockbusters and good dramas. He fit like a glove in The Devil movie even though I wasn't expecting him to despite being a fan. Chalamet has coalesced into too defined a style that is already limiting him, one can see that. Butler can stay the prestige actor, but Holland should be able to keep that coveted 'good actor + solid leading man' spot if he plays his cards right.

I agree that he looks too youthful, and that's on top of being short.

Well he can do a gay romance movie like CMBYN or God's Own Country. Looking 17 and being very short wouldn't be much of a problem.

GAY PORN.
That or bad to mediocre comedy/action movies for the next *35 years with the odd, but failed "Oscar bait" project if he's lucky.
*If he keeps aging this slowly, by the time he's 60, he'll probably barely look like he could pass for a grown man.

I agree that he looks too youthful, and that's on top of being short. Yeah. Also Daniel Radcliffe managed to shake that off, and he’s not even as good an actor as Holland

I agree that he looks too youthful, and that's on top of being short. Yeah. Also Daniel Radcliffe managed to shake that off, and he’s not even as good an actor as Holland Radcliffe did exactly what he should've done: he veered hard into wild-ass territory. If Holland wound up doing that, it'd be awesome.
