Not to be too pacinoyes-y here but I say this all the time - from 2005-2014 - that's a whole decade, I did not take a shower at all Al Pacino did not give a "better than good" film performance in a movie - he wasted a lot of years. He did give 2 fantastic ones on HBO of course (YDK Jack (2010) and Phil Spector (2013)) but he's really, really good in The Humbling (2014) and funny af in it too. That performance saved his movie career in a way - it wasn't a hit and is just 53% RT - but he started to (sometimes) care again about acting that wasn't an HBO movie (um) .........and if you're a Pacino fan there is all kinds of subtext to that role and his own acting career........I think he loves The Humbling anyway.... Also of course Michael Keaton in Birdman........and (unforgettably) Klaus Maria Brandauer in Mephisto

Geoffrey Rush in The Life and Death of Peter SellersI'll probably write some more on this performance in the next couple days but this TV movie is very specific on saying that great actors lose themselves in the machinery of making movies - as a way to not face adulthood ......and the acclaim reinforces that in their relationships Spectacular performance....
