Does anyone have one that's very special to them? I love this one - The Princeton Garden Theater.......for a bunch of reasons that I'll just keep to myself to preserve the mystery (oh shut up) Very quaint, very charming, exceedingly good taste (in coffee, but movies are good too!). I don't get to it too often but I've been to it quite a bit over the years especially when visiting my family. The building itself is over 100 years old....... If you're not familiar with Princeton and drive through the town - you could easily miss it

One that changed its name and management some years back that I loved was called the Carousel theater, which was sort of the closest thing to an arthouse theater in Greensboro, NC. They had a nice bistro area in the back near a couple really tiny theater rooms with small screens that was intimate and comfy. Every year, they would host an Oscars party where they would screen the telecast and serve free food and cake. But since they changed management, they don't do that anymore.

The Trylon Cinema in Minneapolis is the ultimate favorite! 90 seats with DCP, 35 & 16mm screenings of cult films and classics from any decade and region. A lot of my favorites have been discovered there. Discovered this place by a google search of 2001: A Space Odyssey in the fall of 2017 and saw that google listed 70mm showtimes at their sister theater and other favorite, The Heights. The oldest continuously operating theater in MN, since the 1920s I believe.

The Ziegfeld was very nice. May she rest in peace. Like a cathedral of cinema. To this day I do not understand why people didn't go there.
I think the Picturehouse Central in London is great too.

The screen's too small for me. They curate films well, but the actual viewing experience isn't great to me. The best theater I've been to was in France. One of those cinematheques. I also like Alice Tully at Lincoln Center.

I just like the coziness of it and sort of the experience of wasting days hanging out in Princeton in general - see a movie, go to PREX, eat dinner, stumble around eventually drunk ............ it's the feel of it - usually if I think of my best theater experiences, there's some weird quirk about it - not so much the viewing experience itself exactly .......like I once saw a classic horror movie - screen at midnight - in a big run down theater in suburban Philly - which was creepily quiet............ with bats circling the top of the theater......and the walls leaking blood water down them on to the floor .......like the theater experience was unintentionally scary too.......it was awesome.........but I know what you mean though and I do dig Alice Tully as well
