Apparently it's a Sci-fi film.

This is the book plot.......um.......alrighty then
Mickey7 is an Expendable: a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Whenever there’s a mission that’s too dangerous—even suicidal—the crew turns to Mickey. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact. After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of his deal…and why it was the only colonial position unfilled when he took it.
On a fairly routine scouting mission, Mickey7 goes missing and is presumed dead. By the time he returns to the colony base, surprisingly helped back by native life, Mickey7’s fate has been sealed. There’s a new clone, Mickey8, reporting for Expendable duties. The idea of duplicate Expendables is universally loathed, and if caught, they will likely be thrown into the recycler for protein.
Mickey7 must keep his double a secret from the rest of the colony. Meanwhile, life on Niflheim is getting worse. The atmosphere is unsuitable for humans, food is in short supply, and terraforming is going poorly. The native species are growing curious about their new neighbors, and that curiosity has Commander Marshall very afraid. Ultimately, the survival of both lifeforms will come down to Mickey7.
That is, if he can just keep from dying for good.

By that teaser, I'm gonna guess that Robert Pattinson plays a robotic sex doll that goes on a killing spree before finding true love with a non-malfunctioning version of himself and they have to destroy the heads of the evil corporation building them and stop global warming before living happily ever after on an abandoned island somewhere

no clue why they scheduled it for March in the first place. Get this thing on the festival circuit

I feel like this might be a stealth shift for a more awards-friendly date, or even a festival bow.

Damn...so this is being dumped by the studio with that date. Clearly not an awards thing at all. Shame considering Bong is following up Parasite with this, and Pattinson is respected enough these days to be due his first Oscar nomination.

Bong has never been consistent. Okja is flat out lousy. Memories of Murder is like a slapstick, goofy Zodiac.

Might be remebering this wrong but this had a lot of test screenings iirc with a lot of tweaks and every test reaction was a dud......apparently it's quite incoherent in any of the cuts so far.......

This probably sucks. You'd think with Bong's follow up to Parasite with Pattinson in the lead it would be getting a better release date than that if the movie was any good even if it was a mainstream thriller without awards prospects.

I mean, we still don't know. They could give it a December limited run to qualify.
