Sounds good but I won't believe this is happening until I see set pictures. Marty and Leo both have so many projects in various stages of development that I can't see this happening any time soon, if ever.

Cool but this means The Devil in the White City is not happening?

Cool but this means The Devil in the White City is not happening? Possibly. Or they were more enthusiastic about this project and wanted to start it first.

De Niro is supposed to be in this too..... or at least he was a part of the news a few months back. Hope that hasn't changed.

Verrrrrrry interesting. Looks like it could be DiCaprio's next, but without Scorsese. Wonder who'll direct it..... AGI?

Yeah, it's a good story. It depends on how they structure the movie - the books works in 3 main parts. Here's the best plot with character information I could find...
Tom White - Former Texas Ranger and Special Agent in charge of the the FBI's investigation. So very American and part of the frontier.
William Hale - Known as the King of the Osage Hills - a well connected power player in the Osage Indian Reservation.
Mollie Burkhart - Osage Native American and prime target of the murders
Dicaprio would play White. DeNiro would have to play Hale. Hale is supposed to be 10-15 years older than White in the book, but they can age him up.

Interesttting. They'll definitely work together again. I'd rather have AGI do The Cartel. I doubt that's ever happening though.

Reading up on Hale, he'd be a great character to play, and I can def see him having a major role in the film. I'd cast Sean Penn, even looks like him, but if they were thinking De Niro... well, I believe he's busy with his Amazon show right after Irishman, for a while too. So... really... I'd go... with... Pacino. I don't know.... I feel like De Niro's name was only floating around because he and Scorsese/DiCaprio wanted to all work together. If it moves forward with another director, they will probably cast someone age appropriate for Hale instead of that old geezer Pacino.

But I wouldn't count out Scorsese just yet. Although he hasn't ever done back-to-back movies quite like this (has he?), it was originally said by his longtime collaborator that that would be the case. And just cause the one site said Jan shoot, not definite yet. Could easily be updated to, say, March, which would fit better.

Ridley is filming The Cartel in February: Wonder if DiCaprio is on board....... Scorsese should be ready to start his next movie by then (Killers of the Flower Moon or Devil in the White City). If he does Tarantino's next movie, that should start late summer. I'm thinking no based on DiCaprio's current pace, but Ridley works quickly so it could work. DiCaprio needs to get his ass back to work already.

I'm reading the book and it is fantastic and definitely cinematic! I didn't even know Scorsese of all people was turning it into a movie when I started reading it. It's funny because J. Edgar Hoover who DiCaprio has played also features in the book, but not as prominently as the investigator character or William Hale.

Honestly, now granted, I'm only halfway through the book, but I don't think so. His role is very prominent, but it also seems more procedural and technical than Oscar-baity. Oh, and I wanted to add that I'm convinced the perfect person to play William Hale is not De Niro (too old and just not who I picture), but Sean Penn. The novel includes real photographs of the people involved and Penn even looks like the real Hale. Not to mention the role requires a man who is intimidating and sure of himself, which Penn can also do well.

Love him and he would great also. But again, I have to agree with Mattsby, Sean Penn would be ideal because he's rough-edged enough to fit the character described in the book.
