Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke is preparing to run for governor of Texas in 2022, with an announcement expected later this year, Texas political operatives tell Axios. Why it matters: O'Rourke's entry would give Democrats a high-profile candidate with a national fundraising network to challenge Republican Gov. Greg Abbott — and give O’Rourke, a former three-term congressman from El Paso and 2020 presidential candidate and voting rights activist, a path to a political comeback. www.axios.com/scoop-beto-plans-texas-comeback-governors-race-33a3ae1a-4c58-4e7a-9e44-26342d3128c9.html

lol I forgot all about this goof ball. Hopefully he's improved his skateboarding skills. That was painfully awkward to watch smh. I shouldn't make fun of him too much though. Didn't he come close to defeating that other goof ball dbag Ted Cruz in the Senate race? I seem to remember it was pretty damn close. So who knows, Rourke could definitely beat Abbott for Governor all things considered. These Texas Repubs should be on high alert and stop assuming the vast majority of Texas voters are just going to blindly support them forever. They could be in for a rude awakening. BTW any updates on Matthew McConaughey throwing his name in the mix? Cause that would be awesome as hell if he actually runs haha. Would be entertaining to watch at least. The state of Texas (imo) could really use a "McConaissance" era of excellence.

this is going to be the bellwether for the Texas's electorate's stance on reproductive rights. Is the new law extreme enough disenchant enough GOP women the way Trump turned off GOP voters in 2020? Or are they soulless husks who hate their own vaginas? Time will tell.
Beto has a lot of ammo here. The grid, voter suppression, abortion... the question is going to be how much people still remember or care about those things a whole year from now. My inner pessimist remains skeptical.

A year is too much time, if there aren't big change in reproductive women rights, that trully affects women in a very damage way, none will care in one year. One thing is the theory, and other the practice.- Plus Beto O'Rourke is a terrible candidate, any way another terrible candidate Kamala Harris is VP. God Save America!!!

Watch this MFer fuck it up like a typical Democrat. Texas is totally winnable by a genuine progressive candidate, but he's not the one to turn the state blue because he's a typical POS Democrat

We really have to talk about the candidates the National Democratic Party - is putting up in 2022 - in pivotal states that just recently looked like they were turning blue or had a shot to turn anyway. How can he be 19 points down to Abbott after yet another shooting in Texas? I mean I never expected him to win - but I thought it'd be close.......but 19 points? A new poll published on Monday found that Abbott, a Republican, leads O'Rourke by 19 points among likely Texas voters but also found widespread support for new restrictions on gun purchases.
The BluePrint Polling survey found that 48.5 percent of respondents said they would definitely vote for Abbott, while 7 percent were leaning toward the Republican. A further 32.9 percent said they would definitely vote for O'Rourke and just 4.3 percent said they were leaning toward the Democrat.www.newsweek.com/greg-abbott-surges-texas-poll-beto-orourke-governor-1715570

He doesn't or want to listen them.-

Because he is a fake latino.-You cannot pretend to be something you aren't.- Not only but also a wide margin of latinos are extremely consevatives. He doesn't or want to listen them.- Beto has never pretended to be Latino. yep we all've seen the debate. Any way Its worse than that. His speach is like he was the rich irish heir raised by latinas nannies. That could work on a CW Teenage series or in the lifetine channel, but not in politics. In fact its pretty offensive. Ps. Beto a nickname more used for Alberto/Albert than for Robert/Roberto.

I did think Abbott was going to win. It's a deeply conservative state. Beto would need all the progressive vote and working class black/Latino voters to make it close, but even that wouldn't be enough unless he was also able to cull suburban conservatives and independents. And even then... yeah I don't know. This is a state Trump still won "bigly" in an election climate that was intensely anti-Trump and this is a red wave year. I don't know if it'll be 19 points but I'd be surprised if Abbott wins by less than 9 or 10.

Beto has never claimed to be latino. His dad gave him that nickname as a kid. This is almost a trolling thing. I called him a fake Latino. Not that he claims of having hispanic blood.- I think he confuse politics with The High Chaparral.- He used a personal story that helped in his 2018 campaign . But in 2022 is totally anachronistic, out of date. Specially after he tried to speak spanish in a National Debate.-
In fact his story it's right now pretty offensive.-
I think his Obamian mooves are no longer effective, in fact his action looks weird, totally out of place.
I don't think that even democrats seen Beto as an Effective polititian, not even a savy or smart one, in fact he looks like brain dead attention whore guy.- Maybe I'm wrong, but that what's I've seen.-
