Okay for Old, and poor for Snake Eyes, but these drops for Black Widow, and especially Space Jam 2 are just brutal. I'd like to say its bad WOM, but there's no way that SJ2 for example is plunging that much simply by virtue of poor reviews. It's probably a combination of the virus getting worse again, and also the streaming / theatrical dual releases. Going forward this could be the future of cinematic releases, which is very worrying. variety.com/2021/film/box-office/old-box-office-m-night-shyamalan-1235026792/

Old the worst opening of M Night's career.... Not awful numbers, maybe even good considering the pandemic. The Visit on a fraction of the budget and in less theaters made much more.... I vividly recall my audience having a great time during The Visit.... Old less so. During one scene I won't spoil, a girl behind me said jesus christ in a very grossed out, not-happy way. Also I heard someone say afterward, "We should've saw Pig." From the Deadline article: "Some rival marketing suits tell me that the problem with Old was that the ads didn’t have the extra grab factor." Do we think that's true? I'm not even an M Night fan but I was interested enough to wanna see this idea play out and I heard Night wouldn't let marketing use any of the second half of the movie for the trailers, which is a good idea, and I mean--Alex Wolff compared the movie to Kuroneko and Exterminating Angels. Whether I liked Old (I didn't) is for another thread.

Old did fine, Snake Eyes is a real dud. God Paramount is still a mess.

Old did fine, Snake Eyes is a real dud. God Paramount is still a mess. Dumping Infinite to Paramount+ is the only smart decision they've made recently.
