Huge drop for F9, though in the context of a memorial day weekend, and the franchises history of frontloading, it's probably not surprising at all. Second movie to pass 100m, too. Fine for Boss Baby 2, and Purge as well. Interestingly enough this weekend has a box office milestone in of itself. It's the first time since February 2005 11-13 when all three of the top movies in North America were from the same studio, in this case Universal. deadline.com/2021/07/boss-baby-family-business-forever-purge-f9-box-office-weekend-july-4th-1234785567/

Purge still doing well in the box office is kind of a surprise for me...

Purge still doing well in the box office is kind of a surprise for me... Well it's a cheap franchise to produce, and the inherent concept of full anarchy is really appealing to general audiences. It is surprising that it's lasted five movies, though. You'd think people would be tired of it by now, but I guess quite not yet.

F9 held up a bit better from estimates. Solid for Boss Baby, and The Forever Purge too.
