Going For the Emmy .......which a lot of people think he has already, um......... 25 years after playing the role that helped launch his career in A Time To Kill, Matthew McConaughey may be getting ready to make his return to the courtroom. Sources tell Deadline, HBO has acquired the rights to the John Grisham novel, A Time For Mercy, the sequel to Grisham’s classic novel, and are developing it as a limited series with McConaughey in final negotiations to reprise the role of defense attorney, Jake Brigance. Sources say the series would be 8-10 episodes with Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who served as Warner Bros. exec in the 90s when A Time to Kill was greenlit, is on to produce.

"A Time to Kill" might be my favorite McConaughey performance. So I'm very excited for this.

I thought Samuel L Jackson was easily the best thing about A Time To Kill. McConaughey was fine, but nothing special. He's obviously grown significantly as an actor since then, so I could see him doing something much more interesting with the role this time around.
The "McConnisance" came to a pretty swift and brutal end for McConaughey and he's not captured the same form or project selection for a few years now, but that run he had was legendary. Here's hoping this series might reignite another run from him.

This could be good...if he's not too busy being governor of Texas, that is.
