A personality test to determine what you like in video games. Because why not. apps.quanticfoundry.com/surveys/start/gamerprofile/My score is: quantic.page.link/Cj2SdfaYxg8LTix27As a whole, this is a bit of a one-size-fits-all test that doesn't take into account that good games are good games regardless of how well they fit general preferences. My favorite game is Dark Souls, which will probably confuse the hell out of anyone seeing my low scores on enjoying difficulty, but the game is so well designed that I enjoy the challenge. (And it isn't really that tough, guys.) Individual games all come down to how well they blend theme (all of the dressings) and gameplay (the nuts and bolts of the mechanics). If a game is all about despair and suffering, it should be difficult and rough. If it is fluffy and bright, the gameplay should reflect that. Fuck you, Shovel Knight, you fail that test.

anything made by Hidetaka Miyazaki is my shit. For me video games with storytelling "dependable" on its gameplay such as The Last of Us or Dark Souls or Bloodborne are the most interesting ones, even most recently SekiroMy result quantic.page.link/WWAqUTeUBwWJRSXbA

For me video games with storytelling "dependable" on its gameplay such as The Last of Us or Dark Souls or Bloodborne are the most interesting ones, even most recently SekiroMy result quantic.page.link/WWAqUTeUBwWJRSXbAGames are primarily about crafting stories and worlds I can be comfortable in. I'm shocked that I scored so low on discovery, as that's what I would say that I enjoy the most... but then, every time a question came up pertaining to that, I gave it a low score because I only like those if they work. I see no reason to run around the world of Red Dead Redemption to see every cactus, or Mass Effect to mine every identical planet. But Ico, Dark Souls, Wind Waker, Journey - stories in which there are new, ambiguous story elements scattered throughout the world, begging to be pieced together - I love those. I enjoy community aspects *if* I enjoy playing with a certain group of people. It is always dependent on who I'm playing with - Perfect Dark and Smash Brothers are a load of fun if you're on the same page as your party, but if you're playing with randoms, everyone has a different idea of what "fun" is - this is why I stopped enjoying Throne of Lies and Town of Salem. Some people took it seriously, some trolled, and that made the games a clash of what was expected. So I wound up average there because I was imagining games that are good at being a party item. Most games are pretty crap at the "roleplaying" department, and I feel no connection to my player character's blank slate if a game goes that way. The exceptions are games like Batman (Telltale) and Mass Effect, which went halfway and gave scripted dialogues to Shepard/Bruce Wayne that I couldn't predict, and in so doing they created characters *with me* instead of making me imagine whoever I was trying to be.

Action-Oriented, Proficient, Driven, Social, Deeply Immersed, and Creative
I'm not going to list it all... but immersion, Achievements, and Mastery were all super high.
Which is pretty telling. The only thing that was odd was Achievement was 93% and while I do try to get as many as possible if I see something like "collect 77928 of this item", I just ignore it and move on to the next one.

Whereas my Achievement is 2%, which is pretty spot on. I don't see the purpose of doing things just to do them. If it isn't a hassle and it advances the "main quest" I might do it - it might unlock something kind of interesting in the story - but the Skyrim/RDR (I've never played GTA) idea of "fill the world with identical sidequests" just makes me shut off.

I got Bounty Hunter:yup, accurate. Just give me a big open world to explore with cool weapons and a mildly-competent narrative and fun quests with branching dialogue (i.e., Skyrim, Fallout 4, and Witcher 3) and I'll be happy for months.

Your primary (dominant) player type is the Bard. Bards are team players who want to chat and interact with other players in game worlds that are rich with lore, stories, discovery, and customization. For them, the game is a grand story that emerges from a community of players. Your Gamer Motivation Profile : Aggressive, Spontaneous, Relaxed, and Creative apps.quanticfoundry.com/profiles/gamerprofile/9ykGZj88d8rWQdKTaPqqyR/I’ve never done roleplaying before so not sure if that’s too accurate 😂 Only ever play multiplayer when it’s with my group of buddies too, could care less about getting to know random players

At first I was like “yea this about right, this is literally how I play crusader kings. Annihilate someone in a war then peacefully work on my own realm while my murder scheme on the ruler who’s land I just stole progresses so I don’t have to wait for the truce to expire years later”. Then you see that architect and skirmisher just sound like contradictions of each other
>prefers games where they can plan and build >highly spontaneous who dislikes games requiring planning
It’s probably bc lately I’ve pretty much been only playing GTA, fifa and paradox games

Not sure if I'll call myself a "hardcore" gamer (I'm definitely nowhere near the people who play games for a living or competitively) but I've been playing a lot recently. And while I do like narrative-driven games, I also like to play just for the heck of it.
