RIP ......not only a great and legendary guitarist but in the bands original lineup one of the few hard rock bands that was actually funny and how they played into the frontman's humor too........they also were reflective of their California environment in a way that usually is reserved for modern Punk bands - Germs, X, Black Flag, etc. - the original Van Halen were a California band in the best sense in an entirely different way.....

RIP to an absolute legend. Was lucky enough to see him live during the David Lee Roth reunion tour in 2007 (with his son on bass). Still have a poster of him on my old bedroom wall in my parents' house. First VH album is a classic, and I remember all my guitar player friends in high school learning to play Eruption. But this is the much more difficult "acoustic Eruption," which nobody could play :

RIP to an absolute legend. Was lucky enough to see him live during the David Lee Roth reunion tour in 2007 (with his son on bass). Still have a poster of him on my old bedroom wall in my parents' house. First VH album is a classic, and I remember all my guitar player friends in high school learning to play Eruption. But this is the much more difficult "acoustic Eruption," which nobody could play : I was the only one who voted for their first album in the 70s poll!
