Apparently it will be Amy Coney Barrett which is fine by me because I find her cute which is totally important for a judge for me - I mean she can find me guilty of impure thoughts (oh shut up!) - regardless Trump's announcing the pick today so if it's someone else I'll update the thread. How do you think is the way for the Dems to proceed here? Who do you have for the eventual movie as Amy Coney Barrett .......Laura Linney right?

Observations : Laura Ingraham looking pretty good for her late 50s ......sitting right in back of Barrett's family (2nd row?).......Kellyanne Conway in attendance and upfront on the center aisle ......Chris Christie also in the audience off to the side .........possibly eating a meatball sub.... That was a nice presentation, it's hard to believe she's a drunken murderess involved in sex trafficking and money laundering which we may hear about soon. Um......

Obviously fight hard. More for the benefit of the electorate than anything else. It's a losing fight but dems need voters to be angry about this. This bitch is conservative as fuck.

Not to beat this into the ground (too late pacinoyes ) but ACB is ridiculously, perversely even attractive in these hearings.....the calm way she speaks and pulls all this stuff out of her head with her blank notepad (!).....it's a full fledged checklist of mad sexual tropes - the sexy judge in the robe, the smarty pants girl from high school, the good Catholic girl you (or um, me) could possibly corrupt. She's showing up on my celebrity crushes list at some point and don't tell me her voice is annoying, yeah I even like THAT!

Just to be fair to ACB - a "half-true" rating from PolitiFact - since the racial term case is causing quite a ruckus it seems on social media this AM: According to the opinion she wrote for a unanimous three-judge panel, Barrett said that a plaintiff being called that racial slur by a former supervisor didn’t in and of itself establish a hostile work environment for several reasons. She wrote that Smith [the plaintiff] failed to show how it changed his workplace experience, which was already fraught.
Barrett did not write that being called the racial slur doesn’t ever constitute a hostile work environment. The context of the panel’s opinion was limited to that specific case.
This claim is partially accurate, but it leaves out important details and requires context. We rate if Half True.

She is basically saying that your supervisor can verbally abuse you and caLL you every racial slur, homophobic slur, insert name to any type of slur known to mankind and it is perfectly okay..... To her black kids.... GET OUT!!!!

Is it weird to expect an "originalist" to actually, you know, be familiar with the Constitution?

pacinoyes - Setting aside her looks and her wardrobe , do you honestly believe this person is qualified to sit on the Supreme Court? Well, aside from her physical appeal ........um.....I'm not sure tbh ...... This is the ghost of Robert Bork come for revenge right? - who everyone tells me anyway was a brilliant legal mind - was beyond qualified and who got "Borked" - so candidates are going to look more like Amy Coney Barrett going forward (not literally "look like" which would be awesome, kidding, kidding). It's sort of like Trump wasn't qualified to be President but now that he won all kinds of non-politicians might run too on both sides ( Mark Cuban, Tucker Carlson etc) - so "qualified" is a tricky thing........she doesn't appear "unqualified" to me .........but is she "the most qualified"............well probably not ......but again that Bork thing, most qualified maybe can't get confirmation......
