Who are your musical artists that you really loved and feel they not just lost it but lost it to such a baffling large extent that you have to qualify them when explaining your love for them at all. I'm not talking like a bad album here or there or their new stuff isn't "as good" as their old stuff ..........I'm talking more like "I do not recognize you ...........Wtf even happened to you?"
The first 3 are favorite artists even:
Rod Stewart (mostly in Faces) - I've liked nothing he's done since Ronnie Lane left the Faces - and I liked his early solo records and love the Faces ..........this is the greatest decline for anyone ever? Dustin Hoffman level.
Bob Mould - Could do no wrong for me until the mid-90s........... and then he swung wildly and was hit or miss but when he missed he was excruciating.........his last album blew to me. His new single is flat out an embarrassment so much so that I won't post it......... and I post everything.
REM (especially Michael Stipe) - Post-Green there wasn't much I could stand at all ........which I never would have guessed because I am wearing a Reckoning shirt right now
Weezer - Really liked the first.........loved the 2nd.........then nothing great post-Pinkerton (the "White" album had a couple good singles but otherwise.......nope). One of the good singles below.

Animal Collective has been mediocre for an entire decade. Merriweather Post Pavillion was clearly a bitch of an act to follow.
And I used to listen to a lot more Coldplay when they were doing Britpop and not just mind-numbing electropop. I still listen to a handful of their aughts tracks (Fix You and Lovers in Japan aren't guilty pleasures, they're legit amazing pop songs fight me) but haven't been able to bring myself to listen to hardly any of their 2010s output. I used to enjoy one or two tracks off Mylo Xyloto and one off Ghost Stories, but that enjoyment proved short-lived. I've heard a couple tracks since then and been appalled at their blandness.
Arcade Fire certainly declined in quality too. I can't say I enjoyed Reflektor near as much as everyone else but Everything Now was a new low.
