new FYCs based on some catchup: Invisible Life for Adapted Screenplay Les Miserables for Foreign Language Film, Adapted Screenplay, Directorial Debut Monos for Cinematography Queen and Slim for Directorial Debut so I still have to watch Ema, Honeyland, Official Secrets, Ordinary Love, Proxima, Queen of Hearts, Sea of Shadows, System Crasher and The Truth. did anyone ever see Painted Bird? Was really curious about that one. And has anyone been able to watch Truth and Justice other than themoviesinner ? It looked incredible but I don't know how to see it.

Tommen_Saperstein I watched Truth And Justice on a Greek streaming site several months ago, but I know it has been out on torrent for quite a while now. For me it's a fantastic film (among the decade's best) and definitely worth watching if you ever come across it.

and I guess it's too late now since ppl are submitting ballots, but whoever runs this next year needs to boost debut feature from 3 to 5. There are sooo many quality debuts every year.

FYC A pastiche that expands the 20th century, in cultural, political, formal, and film terms. ( Pic, Dir, Actor, Screenplay, etc... ) A sort of chamber piece that plays with mistery to then reveal itself as a straight up psycho drama, but seen from a different angle, is a comedy, to randomly ask questions like -do we still believe in hysteria and other stereotypes and the consequences of excessive capitalism ?- ( Pic, Dir, Actress, Screenplay, .... ) One of the most memorable characters of 2019 Classic genre piece, handsomely made ( All techs... ) Oh, and for Actress, don't forget to vote for: otherwise...

FYC: The AeronautsIt's not great but it's absolutely worth seeing for the techs (and honestly Felicity Jones, who's better than she had any right to be). Both sound categories certainly, VFX absolutely, and Alexandra Byrne's costumes. Immaculate work. Watch it!

Is Climax eligible? I thought it was released in France in 2018.

weird, I just discovered one of the very best films of 2019 in this erotic Danish drama (horror?) suffuse with uneasy tension, sinister political subtext and a truly disturbing subversion not only of expectation but of bias. "No one is going to believe someone like you." Yikes. (gorgeously shot too, and scored) FYC in all categories, especially: Best Picture, Best foreign film, Best director (May el-Toukhy), Best Actress (Trine Dyrholm). This one's special.

alright, with a total of 125 films under my belt I'm ready to put 2019 to bed. Last two entries were the environmental thriller documentary Sea of Shadows and explosive System Crasher. Both really strong and both made my ballot. Sea of Shadows in particular seems pretty underseen so do look into it. A marvelously tense documentary about the ecological threat to the Sea of Cortez from blackmarket cartel overfishing.

Just a reminder 2 everyone - we're getting decently close to the deadline. Make sure you submit your ballots if you plan to participate. MAY 17th is the end date. That still gives you 7 days (not counting today) to watch anything you haven't gotten to yet. If we need to, we'll extend the deadline by a bit, but don't delay

I definitely plan on watching Portrait (that’s a *must*), Nightingale, and Pain and Glory. That may be all I have time for, so I’ll try to watch at least two of those before submitting.
EDIT: And The Souvenir since that’s on Prime.
