Eh, dislike most of what I've heard outside of "Evil", which is a pretty solid song.
Something about their sound just doesn't do it for me.

Turn on the Bright Lights was the shit. Kinda fell off after that.

I've never really understood the huge acclaim they got early on. They just seem like a generic 2000's alt rock band. Even when I was a teenager and was way into that kind of music I always thought they were just another band.

"Untitled" is honestly one of my favorite songs ever.
I really love Turn on the Bright Lights and Our Love to Admire (the latter is super underrated) among their albums. Overall, I'd say they're one of the better indie/alt bands of their time, but I'm not a huge fan or anything.

I loved them when I first got into music, mostly because they were one of the only bands I had on my iTunes. Since then I've kinda drifted away from them but they always bring back some nostalgia

I kinda thought El Pintor was underrated.

Loved their early stuff but I haven't heard anything interesting from them in years
Leif Erikson is one of my all time favorite songs.

Turn on the Bright Lights is my favorite album of the 2000s! That one album is amazing and still gets played by me to this day when I want a certain mood, but I haven't cared much for anything they've done since. It's the same with the Strokes. Is This It? is a fantastic rock record, but their subsequent albums were just meh in comparison.

I think they get compared to The Strokes a lot in their career arc (carrie just spoke for a lot of people I think) but to me it's a little unfair to both bands - I never understand the lack of love for their 2nd records. I go 2 deep really into the catalog for each - I mean even deeper actually, I love Angles too by The Strokes - but to me the first 2 albums were classics, just lesser classics. But they are great companion piece albums to the landscape changing debuts.
Antics really pays off to repeated plays and it retains the sense of dark mystery that made them so alluring......after that that they seemed like a simpler, more direct, duller band.

Now The Strokes I am a big fan of, and I thought their second album, Room on Fire, was even better than their first. It's also where I thought the lead singer's voice was at its best. I agree that since then they've declined with each new release, but they still put out some great songs.

Is This It? is one of the best albums of its time. That music was so refreshing when it came out. The album worked so well as a whole. It's a classic. Room On Fire to me was just a watered down, less memorable version of Is This It?.
