Friday is the EDDIE awards aka Best Film Editing. We can talk about animated feature or documentary feature, but I know you guys only care about regular film editing categories for drama and comedy/musical.
As always, lets start with some history. Since 1999, the EDDIES have been divided into genre of Drama and Comedy/Musical. Only 5 times has the EDDIE and the Best Film Editing Oscar, gone to a different film. The years were 2000 (Gladiator/Being John Malkovich won over Traffic), 2011 (The Descendants/The Artist won over Dragon Tattoo), 2013 (American Hustler/Captain Phillips over Gravity), 2014 (Grand Budapest/Boyhood over Whiplash) and 2016 (Arrival/Big Short over Hacksaw Ridge). Between 1989 and 1998, they matched 8 out of 10 times. Chicago is the only Comedy/Musical to win the EDDIE.
It's hard to find a precursor for this because the Globes don't do film editing and the Critics Choice picked 1917, which is not nominated.

COMEDY/MUSICAL EDITING
Dolemite is My Name, The Farewell, Knives Out, Jojo Rabbit and Once Upon A Time in Hollywood
I think they are going for FvF and Jojo. Normally I would say Once, but it's not up for Best Film Editing at the Oscars. Pretty much every EDDIE winner is up for Best Film Editing at the Oscars.
