Lets talk acting nominations. Who do you think is in? Whose going to be left out? Whose going to get a shocking nomination?
BEST ACTOR Joaquin Phoenix and Taron Egerton won the Globe, and scored both the SAG and BAFTA. They should be in. Leonardo Dicaprio and Adam Driver scored acting nominations at the Globes, SAG, and BAFTAs. For the fifth and final spot, you have Christian Bale (Globe, SAG), Jonathan Pryce (Globe, BAFTA), Roman Griffin Davis (Globe), Antonio Banderas (Globe, NYFC, LAFC, NSFC), Adam Sandler (NBR), George McKay (Best Picture front-runner), Robert DeNiro (Best Picture front-runner), Eddie Murphy (Globe) and Daniel Craig (Globe).
I am personally leaning toward Banderas or Bale here. Whenever the Globes and SAG match, there tends to be a dark horse.
BEST ACTRESS Renee Zellwegger won the Globe and NBR, and scored both the SAG and the BAFTA. She should be in, and probably win the entire thing. Charlize Theron and Scarlett Johansson scored the Globe, SAG and BAFTA. That leaves two empty spots. Most likely it'll be either Saoirse Ronan (Globe and BAFTA), Cynthia Erivo (Globe and SAG), Lupita Nyong'o (SAG, NYFC), Awkwafina (Globe Winner), Jessie Buckley (BAFTA), Mary Kay Place (LAFC, NSFC), Ana De Armas (Globe), or Beanie Feldstein (Globe).
I lean toward Ronan and Erivo here.
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR Brad Pitt won the Globe, NSFC and NBR Best Supporting Actor trophies and currently up for the SAG and BAFTA. He's in, and heading toward his first acting Oscar. Tom Hanks, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci landed the Globe, SAG and BAFTA. That leaves one spot open. We have Anthony Hopkins (Globe, BAFTA), Jamie Foxx (SAG), Song Kang-ho (LAFC), Sam Rockwell (Best Picture front-runner) or Taika Waititi (Best Picture front-runner).
Playing it safe here and say Hopkins, but I would love to see Foxx getting into the mix.
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS Laura Dern won the Globe, NYFC and NSFC awards for Best Supporting Actress, and up for the SAG and BAFTA. Margo Robbie scored the Globe, SAG and BAFTA for her role in Bombshell. After those two, it gets a bit dicey. You have Jennifer Lopez (Globe, SAG, LAFC), Scarlett Johansson (SAG, BAFTA), Florence Pugh (BAFTA), Kathy Bates (Globe, NBR), Nicole Kidman (SAG), Cho Yeo-jeong (Best Picture front-runner), Thomasin McKenzie (Best Picture front-runner), Annette Bening (Globe), or Margo Robbie for Hollywood.
I am going to say Lopez, Johansson and Pugh for the last three spots.
What are your acting predictions? Did I forget anybody?

Best Actor: 1. Joaquin- No way he misses. 2. Leo- I don't think he'll win anything, but I've been (so far correctly) predicting he'd be nominated everywhere 3. Robert De Niro- The voters have been watching this (Trump-hating) icon get snubbed over and over again. Everyone's gonna add him to their Oscar ballots. 4. Adam Sandler- He's been rising at the right time and people really love this performance 5. Antonio Banderas- Seems like a fitting passion pick. I could see Bale, Pryce, Murphy, and even Taron Egerton and even Adam Driver getting snubbed in a real shocker. Because in a race like this, there's no way it won't be shocking (think Best Director most recent years, esp. 2012).

Phoenix, Driver, DiCaprio, Egerton have all hit SAG and BAFTA, where there are actual Oscar voters.
What's up for play is the 5th spot. Pryce made BAFTA, Bale SAG. Banderas won the big 3 critics awards.

I don't buy it's as simple as precursors mostly in BSA, only Pitt and maybe Pesci are in definitely here.
Pacino is the most snubbed actor in all Awards history, he could easily be left out again - and they don't owe The Irishman 2 nods in the category. I'll believe it when I see it.
Hanks film is, with all due respect not much and you really have to look at the performance to get it, I'm not sure they will. I think Hopkins film will overperform with the Academy and Foxx is a politically correct pick/previous winner.
I think some of the locks could drop out and be replaced by people on the bubble. It's really hard to know how they see The Irishman - it could have the most nominations or finish behind OUATIH and 1917 now. BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR Brad Pitt won the Globe, NSFC and NBR Best Supporting Actor trophies and currently up for the SAG and BAFTA. He's in, and heading toward his first acting Oscar. Joaquin, Driver and Leo are definitely in for BA.
Pitt and Pesci in BSA (most likely Pacino and Hanks also).
Renee, ScarJo and Theron are in for lead actress. Probably Ronan also.
Dern and Robbie are locks in supporting, in the weakest category of the four.

Phoenix Driver Egerton DiCaprio Banderas Zellweger Johansson Theron Ronan Erivo Pitt Pesci Pacino Hanks Hopkins Dern Robbie Lopez Johnasson Pugh I am probably going to submit those as my action nominations. Although, I wouldn't be surprised to see Davis slipping into the Best Actor race or two Parasite action nominations.
