I have it 3rd behind Pacino #1 and Pacino #2 ......1 Asian male and female ever has won an acting Oscar iirc in Supporting....BP is too big a leap from that. These are an American award and the top 2 picks distinctly reflect America, there's no need to go outside the US in 2019.
Parasite most closely resembles Cries and Whispers as I've talked about before - another non-US awards behemoth that had quite a run including director and picture etc.

I hope not. It's hands down the most overrated movie of the year. The circlejerk around it is fucking insufferable.

Here's my question: Why are people predicting Parasite?
Parasite didn't win the PGA or DGA, the two most accurate Best Picture predictors.
Parasite didn't win the Critics Choice, BAFTA or any major Globes.
1917 has won FOUR major Best Picture prizes -- Globe, PGA, DGA and BAFTA.
Yes, I understand the no film editing part, but the shot selections are pretty simple, just like Birdman.

In the preferential ballot Era, DGA has been the lesser reliable precursor of the big 3.

1917 won both the PGA and DGA.

Where are you getting those numbers from? Gravity lost BP, The Revenant lost BP despite having a similar trajectory than 1917, La La Land lost BP, Roma lost BP all despite winning DGA. That's 4 since 2013.

He's laughing like that because he knows that the best movie of the year of all time Joker will win, demonstrating once and for all that we live in a society and that gamers have risen up and you do not mess with them.

Gravity and 12 Years A Slave tied for the PGA in 2013.
The Revenant and Roma did not win the PGA. We're talking about a film that won both the PGA and DGA. Apollo 13, Saving Private Ryan, Brokeback Mountain, Gravity and La La Land are the only films to win both and lose. On the other hand, you had 17 films which won both and went onto to win Best Picture, like The Shape of Water in 2017.
But you still haven't answered my question. Why are we predicting Parasite over 1917? That's my question. Do you know how many winners won without a PGA or DGA win? You have Braveheart, Shakespeare in Love, Crash, Spotlight, and Moonlight.
