I was kinda hoping that Les Miserables would miss just so we could laugh at France for picking the less critically adored film (not to say Ly's film is chopped liver).

Wow, The Painted Bird made the shortlist..
I really liked Les Miserables but it’s not on the same level of Portrait of a Lady on Fire.
I’m going to see Truth and Justice in a few days, really curious about it, a 3 hour Estonian historical movie and i’ve read some comparisons to Malik.

wow, Painted Bird?? There's no way that gets in, it's much too divisive. Rest of these are pretty expected (minus the Sweden snub). I've only seen Parasite but most of these look really great.
predix: 1. Parasite 2. Pain and Glory 3. Atlantics 4. Les Miserables 5. Truth and Justice (this looks amazing, nice to see it here)

wow, Painted Bird?? There's no way that gets in, it's much too divisive. In a category that recognized Dogtooth, I think there's no such thing as "divisive."
