The awards they're choosing to broadcast is more than a little strange. "Best Talk Show", "Best Comedy Special"?
Was this based on who they thought would show up?

Was this based on who they thought would show up?Surely not, considering Tarantino and Gerwig are both there yet they didn't broadcast either screenplay award. Also they broadcasted Best Action Film even though not a single person from Endgame is there. I.e. Critics Choice is an absolute fucking mess, but everyone already knew that.

QT is popular but Greta hasnt gotten there yet. Could just be writing categories are boring.

That was a really good speech by Phoenix. Short, sweet, not so rambly, and got the message across clearly. SAG might still opt for Driver, but I just feel that the narrative is building for Joaquin because his film looks to be potentially over-performing. But SAG is notably the one industry body that snubbed him back in 2012, so who knows? His speech was pretty good. Renee’s speech didn’t improve any though. Oof. She’ll still win the Oscar, but I’m not looking forward to hearing her acceptance speeches for the next three award shows.
