Dunkirk - Rated PG-13 for intense war experience and some language
Okay, I know that war is not a subject to laugh at, but seriously?

Why are you blaming them? It's probably what the studio and Nolan were aiming for.

Well Nolan wasn't going to make this like SPR and it was never going to be rated R. This explanation can only bode well for the potency and tension that's most likely going to be prevalent and drive the narrative, seeing as Nolan said there's not much dialogue at all.
Gawd I can't wait for this.

I'm talking about the rating description, not the rating itself.

I'm talking about the rating description, not the rating itself. So am I, and I still fail to see the problem.

Could've used the word "sequence" instead of "experience".

Could've used the word "sequence" instead of "experience". Well maybe it truly is "Dunkirk: The IMAX experience."

While I would have liked it to be R, the phrasing 'intense war experience' makes me very excited.

Dunkirk - Rated PG-13 for intense war experience and some language
Okay, I know that war is not a subject to laugh at, but seriously? Not really all that out of the ordinary. Basically saying there's gonna be a good deal of relevant violence.

As far as MPAA ratings go, this is one of the saner ones. It lets people know that there will be intense war-related scenes, which might not be suitable for people under the age of thirteen without parental supervision.

I love MPAA ratings describers. It's fun to come up with your own weird ones with things they actually used, like-
"Rated PG-13 for disturbing depictions of anti-social behavior, some teen partying, and a bawdy puppet show"

I dunno, I don't think it's among their worst descriptions. The phrasing is weird but not that hilarious. I wish it went something like this: Rated PG-13 for intense depiction of very bad war experience.

Just read this description: Bushwhacked (1995) Rated PG for language and a mild birds and bees discussion. All hail the MPAA

Thought this would be rated R. At least there is some 'intense war experience'

That MPAA description is, of course, ridiculous, but I'm fine with Dunkirk being PG-13. A war movie doesn't need to sorely have huge amounts of blood in order to be good.
