would bring something great out of them. Has to be someone they haven't worked with yet.
I'm very curious about Michael Mann and Ryan Gosling. Gosling is flexible, but I think Mann could utilize his "cool" to more dynamic ends than his stuff like Drive.
I like Shailene Woodley's emoting (polar opposite of J-Law); a Woody Allen picture could do some good for her.
Chalamet should work with Sam Mendes on a drama. A Kazan-esque one. What he did in Prodigal Son was nothing if not practice for something like that.
Evan Rachel Wood needs a wild Streetcar-esque showcase. Campion with a better script than usual.

I've said this a million times: Marion Cotillard and Ang Lee. And both are in dire need of a professional boost at this point.

In the Adam Driver thread I said he should work with a theater guy in the movies - Kenneth Lonergan - but that also applies to Sam Mendes. He's enjoying a big year by playing detailed and nuanced - a theater director could meet him in the middle.
Denzel Washington is an actor who is among the best of his film generation but he desperately needs to work with great directors now - look at his 2010s and it's shockingly small time for directors for ages 55-65 - and he's off to the right start with Joel Coen which should improve his filmography......but I'd like to see him team up with the Safdies and use their kinetic quality and energy with his charisma.
Michelle Williams is to me the best and most risk taking actress of her generation - well, Jennifer Kent seems to me to be the director willing to go for it - whatever "it" is more than anyone.

Oh honeys, Sion Sono, Peter Strickland, Pedro Almodovar... but I think of all the directors, I would have liked to worked with Luis Buñuel.

I'll mention one that won't go over well on here but Nicole Kidman should work with PTA - a director who wouldn't serve her vanity (that's not a put-down) but push back on her and challenge her.
PTA has never made a female-centric film and he should and Kidman needs to be pushed now - when she's "daring" too often she's daring in built in ways - like Destroyer where gasp! she looks bad (and the (not good) film constantly glamorizes her while de-glamorizing her actually) - but Kidman can be daring in character too and I think needs to be now.
She could actually be his new DDL - a strong central character that uses and is used by her previous appearance and behavior - the Stéphane Audran in Claude Chabrol's "Betty" period should be starting for her now. Could be spectacular .......
