For a long time this would have been Gosling vs. Gyllenhaal ............but with Driver likely to get his 2nd nod this year - and maybe a win - has stolen a lot of Gyllenhaal's thunder .......on stage too with a Tony nod this past season.
Who's your pick for the best of the 3?

Gosling. Driver will have to do a lot more to stop being Darth Vader's grandson in my mind. He's very talented and I believe he will, but atm RG is a much better actor. Gyllenhaal, I just hate the guy. Not that bad of an actor but... Well, if by any chance you mean Maggie Gyllenhaal, maybe I should change my vote

Gosling. He's better than almost any actor at internalization, he has the best screen presence of the lot, he's equally good at comedy and drama, and he's got more legitimate great movies and directors to his name.
Gyllenhaal probably has the singular best performance of the three with Nightcrawler, but Gosling smokes him on versatility and breadth of quality work.
Driver's done well for himself and will probably win an Oscar first, but he's still not quite on the Baby Goose's level.

Gyllenhaal without a doubt has the most range and the strongest (and most varied) slate of work. Gosling often comes off a bit bland in his dramatic work (Blue Valentine and Half Nelson being the only real exceptions) and one-note and imo a bit grating in his comedic work (and btw he's the weakest thing about La La Land) so it's no contest for me.
Driver is a solidly consistent performer but he hasn't reached the heights of either Gyllenhaal or Gosling yet. Give him a few more years.

Driver currently excites me most of the three as an actor.
Gyllenhaal is intermittently great and ordinary.
Gosling is comfortably the best of the trio so far.
If we're all still here in 10 years I feel like my answer will be Driver.

Ryan Gosling, but my second choice in this category would be Chris Pine.

Driver is hard to compare to the other two since his body of work is considerably slimmer, but it'd be interesting to see the breadth of it in 5 or so years. Gosling is definitely better than Gyllenhaal, though...like it's not even really contest for me. Hell, I'd handily place James Franco above Gyllenhaal as well.

Right now I'd go with Gosling. He has been giving good performances consistently over nearly 15 years now. Though lately he has become a bit one-dimensional. Gyllenhal has the same time span, but hasn't been quite as consistent as Gosling in my eyes. Driver hasn't been here for so long, but I wouldn't be surprised if he would overtake Ryan and Jake over the next ten years.

Gosling by a long chalk. I'd take Gosling over 'em just for his pre-2010 work. Recently watched The Believer and while an awful movie he's great - full of seething self-loathing. Daring first lead perf too, post-Mickey Mouse. Gyllenhaal I just don't find as intense, exciting, or charismatic. He can be forgettable. Driver has a ways to go - I like him as an actor, like Paterson, but I don't see one great perf yet, could be Marriage Story. But if that's his 'Kramer vs Kramer' I'm more looking forward to his Lenny/Straight Time.
Pattinson is arguably the most interesting under-40 right now with his career choices... and he's looking to blow up again. He doesn't have to take small roles or personally contact 'art-house' filmmakers, but he does, and he's proved to be invested in his craft thru dark daring unpredictable roles. Gosling's next (nothing in sight) could use some of that.

I think Gyllenhaal is a great actor, but I have to vote for Gosling, who is undoubtedly a genius. I just wish Gosling worked with more great directors, so that talent could be more properly highlighted.
Driver is a good actor, but I've never been wildly impressed by one of his film performances yet the way I have been by Gosling in The Believer/Fracture/Lars and the Real Girl/etc. or Gyllenhaal in Nightcrawler.

Not big on Blue Valentine? I actually think it's one of the few times Gosling is good but overshadowed by his co-star. I prefer Michelle Williams' performance, even though I think he's an even greater actor than her (and she might be the best actress of her generation). I don't think that character was written well-enough.
