This looks excessively drab for the sake of being just that.

Looks solid!! The performances seem powerful and Woodard probably getting a nod! And of course... It's Bunk!!!

This looks excessively drab for the sake of being just that. I can confirm that this is exactly what the movie wound up being. Drab and obvious. Subtlety isn't in Chukwu's vocabulary, but that would be fine if there was any life coursing through this thing.

I love that I finished the movie, got onto Youtube and saw this as a recommended video.

Alfre Woodard was the Regina King of her day in a way .....18 Emmy TV nominations (that's not a typo, 18 ) ........4 wins. If anyone ever wants to see a great one on this subject - Open Doors (1990) with the great Gian Maria Volonte.....

Loved the idea of this thing but when I saw it early this year I felt the same as Martin Stett . It's sooooo unrelentingly bleak and doesn't have the narrative chops to back it up and that affects even Woodward whose performance feels like an empty husk. for a more interesting example of capital punishment's effects on executioners, I recommend Herzog's Into the Abyss.
