Two scene stealing performances by two always watchable actors. Which gangster portrayal do you prefer?

Most probably Pesci will win this but I'll throw a vote to Caan. I think his role was more complex than Pesci's.
Of course, Pesci gave the performance of his lifetime.
Plus, he was funny. Not like a clown...

There's literally nothing in Goodfellas that I like as much as anything in The Godfather....I mean I like Goodfellas and all that but I don't give a sh it about any of those scumbag guys and the Corleones are like literally my family members and Caan.......well he is my psychotic brother/cousins/uncles......I mean, you know, family and all that.

His total presence in Goodfellas was amazing but his character wasn't nothing more than a compulsive, careless small time mafioso.

Caan just edges out Pesci for me, mostly because I'd say he manages the more complex character, or at least a more complex spectrum of emotion. Like nearly all the characters in The Godfather we are always so unsure of whether or not we love or hate Sonny ... a lot like a family member in the way, a lot like a human being in that way. It's that same complexity that defines the entire film, but Sonny really exemplifies it, and Caan goes a long way in making such a tricky character incredibly believable. Love Pesci to death though, but he's not even my favorite performance in that film ... well, neither is Caan my favorite in his, but you get the idea...

Pesci, but I'm pleased to see the love for Caan in this thread. In a film full of fantastic performances, I like that his doesn't go underappreciated.
