I tend to agree with this video from the Smithsonian - it seems most plausible that the English settlers assimilated with the local Native Americans - but it definitely remains a topic of fierce debate. What do you think?

There's only one logical explanation for events like this..... cannibalism.

There actually is evidence of cannibalism in nearby Jamestown, Virginia - an English teenaged girl whom historians call "Jane" was eaten by her fellow colonists... The first forensic evidence of survival cannibalism at any early European colony in North America.

I think they abandoned the colony and were absorbed into the nearby Croatoan tribe, considering the reports of natives with European features that were seen generations later.
