This is really shocking to me... Richard Burton, Ava Gardner, and Vivien Leigh have all been so honored, along with scores of other actors who have had far less of an impact than Taylor. She was born in Hampstead Garden Suburb in 1932 and lived there until 1939, and received a Damehood from the Queen in 2000. There's an online petition now to have a blue plaque instated in her honor: Liz Taylor Blue Plaque Campaign. Maybe my British friends can help explain this? For instance, why would the American Ava Gardner be granted one above Taylor, who was a dual British-American citizen? Thanks guys.

According to wikipdia (the source of all truth and knowledge )... "To be eligible for an English Heritage blue plaque in London the famous person concerned must: Have been dead for 20 years or have passed the centenary of their birth. Fictional characters are not eligible".If this is solid infomation, then she will have to wait a while yet.

Gardner died in 1990, so it makes sense now that she would receive one before Taylor. I did sign the petition to have one instated for her, though!
