From film or television, this is a space to share scenes you felt were particularly well-acted in the year 2019. To start things off, I have to share a scene that I can't stop thinking about from the second episode of Big Little Lies' second season - "He salted you?" "I think you mean assault." Equal parts wrenching and mother-son tender - I was sobbing. Woodley and Armitage are simply incredible wading through these tricky character waters. They both must work with Andrea Arnold again.

First one I'll mention is from a movie I just saw today and that I'm still very much thinking about ... Jonathan Majors who gives just a tremendous performance in The Last Black Man in San Francisco, and particularly in the one-man show theater performance he gives towards the end of the film, is just immensely powerful.

anyone can say what they want about the writing, but Dinklage had some of his finest moments in GoT S8. Tyrion's last scene with Jaime is a highlight for both characters and both actors. Truly remarkable work.

and oh my god, this one! There won't be a better acted piece of television than this one for the rest of 2019. Dorff killed it.

At this point I'm going to go so far off the beaten path that nobody will list these but fnck it: Dylan/Baez from the end of Rolling Thunder Revue where (I think?) they were acting out that (scripted?) conversation in 1978 but becomes really meta and great and profound in 2019. RU: Steve and Robin talking in the bathroom in Stranger Things Season 3. Ftw.

Here's the scene for those interested in watching/rewatching! I like how she joins the singing at the end even though it isn't in the script lol. They were the highlight of S3 for sure - great chemistry across the season, they're very funny together, and this scene is their most touching, with emotional readying and reversals and processing, they bring it out warmly.

Everything Meryl Streep in Big Little Lies Agree. S2 is a clunker, but she's very good - idk if there's one scene to single out yet but it's a convincing, smart perf... humorous how she breaks the polite barriers with her candid interjections, but it's sly too. She plays nearly every moment as a miniature of our broader questioning of her - are her intentions good or ill - are her actions calculated or understandable - and at least for me you can't tell which it is yet. Another standout female perf on TV this year: Michelle Williams Fosse/Verdon

The two biggies: Celeste's questioning in ep. 6, and then Celeste questioning Mary-Louise in the finale...
Also, a mod should pin this thread so that it can be easily updated throughout the year.
