I become increasingly envious every time I think of "Big Little Lies" - I mean, who doesn't want a gorgeous multimillion-dollar oceanfront property on the Monterey peninsula? These houses are stunning. OT, but how can Shailene Woodley's character possibly afford to live there - even as a renter?
I also loved Diane Keaton's Hamptons house in Something's Gotta Give and I'm always in the mood for a grand country estate in England à la Gosford Park.
People these days are increasingly criticizing pornography as being "problematic" and as only appealing to certain demographics, but I think the new genre of "real estate porn" is really opening things up. Here are some titles I would reccomend
Two Realtors One Buyer Naughty Sales Associates XIV: Penetrating the Market Oral Contracts XVII: Closing the Deal Hung Broker Chronicles XXI: The Mortgage Isn't the Only Thing That's Long Second Mortgage in Your Mouth Slutty Housewives XVI: Getting Frisky at the Model Home
All I got is Basic Instinct as Sharon Stone has her white coat traversing expensive San Francisco apartments and lakehouses.
Other than that, every Sofia Coppola movie. She's quite obsessed with rich suburban people. In The Bling Ring and The Virgin Suicides, she made a film about people absorbed in their quality remote suburban lifestyles and the result of their environment.
The Holiday.I was obsessed with Cameron Diaz's house in Los Angeles and Kate Winslet's sweet little cottage. Also,Something Borrowed, that Kate Hudson film set in the Hamptons and West Village, the houses were gorgeous.
It's not grand, opulent houses, but I love the sets in Noah Baumbach's The Squid and the Whale. The flat the family lives in (and then only Laura Linney) is like a live-in library and looks so cozy.
There's also Antonio Banderas' apartment in Dolor y Gloria (that damn red kitchen ), Mia Dolan's place in La La Land, Summer's apartment in 500 Days of Summer, the house in Roma, both places in The Parent Trap... Of course, The Grand Budapest Hotel but I don't know if a hotel qualifies.
Nevermind my ex-architecture major self obsessing over apartments

I remember thinking when I was watching Ghost Stories last year, that the house Martin Freeman's character lived in was fantastic and I'd love to live somewhere very similar in style and decor. I may add some more in, but this is the one that immediately sprang to mind.
