Since we are still early in the year, you get two votes for Best picture. Vote for your first choices and rank the rest

Since nothing has been released yet, I vote for my wannabe best picture, the irishman.
Maybe when I watch them all, I will change my opinion. And Jojo will be a very strong contender I guess.

Last time I went with Jojo Rabbit, but I'm going to go with the safer choice in Harriet now.
Focus has never won the top prize before, but with Fox Searchlight being under Disney now, maybe things will change for them. I know there's still A24, but I don't think The Farewell will get that far. Maybe it will be nominated for BP, but it's definitely not winning if Roma couldn't last year.

Until given evidence to the contrary the movie with the best director, cast, most ambitious subject matter (by far), and US historical importance/significance - cinematic at least - is still the one............Irishman........now having said that............trailer please.

The only movies listed here that I can see as possible winners are A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (Green Book-esque crowdpleaser?) or The Report (if they go the Spotlight route). 1917 is a possibility, sure, but I see it being more of the Darkest Hour-esque stock BP nominee that no one has much passion for. Harriet I guess is also a maybe but sadly I have no expectation in the Academy recognizing a film from a black female director with the big prize especially with the shit they just pulled. As I've said before, I can't see a Scorsese or Tarantino film winning BP these days at all. No way in hell do I see a Wes or Taika film winning BP, and nooooooo way is a James Gray movie gonna do it especially with Disney burying it. Ford v. Ferrari will be, like, Rush 2.0 probably. The Woman in the Window is gonna go either the Girl on the Train or Gone Girl route and neither is gonna lead to major awards success. Can't see an A24 summer release going anywhere major so, I'm not seeing The Farewell doing it either just yet.
So, from this list I'll say A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood unless the Academy proves to be anti-Mr. Rogers again. The Report seems to have the next best chance but I can't remember the last time a Sundance premiere went on to win BP so I'm not seeing it.

The Farewell and The Report are my go-tos for the time being. This month I'm giving the edge to The Farewell.

I have no idea right now but I'm going to go ahead and vote for The Last Black Man in San Francisco just to get it on the list.

Of these, I think it'll be The Farewell.

The summer release doesn't do The Farewell any favors, and A24 will be no match for Neflix who got Roma 10 noms and The Irishman will probably get as many and there's no reason yet to suspect it won't be a major and undeniable epic...

I feel like people always overestimate Scorsese, and he misses a lot more than he really should for a director of his stature. Netflix may have more money to burn, but A24 has actually won Best Picture before, and this most recent year aside (where they seemingly sat out the race for some reason), they've been perennial favorites scoring major wins ever since they broke that glass ceiling a few years ago. A Scorsese/De Niro/Pacino collaboration isn't guaranteed Oscar fodder, is what I'm sayin'.

I am going with The Farewell, but I have no confidence in anything at all.

Jojo Rabbit, purely because it's one of my most anticipated and I want others to love it as much as I hope to. So for now I'm backing it blindly.
I also voted for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, as right now it is the only option up there, which I think is almost sure to be an an actual nominee.
