My dream casting for this part was Pfeiffer but this is great. Adams is so miscast but the book is incredible and I like Vallee's style

Now they just need to cast Elle Fanning as Amma to have the perfect cast. I think sadly she is a bit too old for the part I believe they'll age her character. They already did this with Amy's and Patricia's roles. Plus HBO won't want to put a 13 year-old actress to actually play that part, it'll be so messy and controversial.

I was really hoping for Michelle Pfeiffer or Holly Hunter, but Clarkson is inspired and can't wait to see her sink her teeth in the material. No idea why they're going to stretch this very simple murder mystery into 8 episodes?!?!?

That's pretty well cast.
After Gone Girl, I read Gillian Flynn's three novels, and this was by far my favourite, looking forward to it.
Personally, I don't think they will age Amma. She is a 13 yo who looks and acts like she's 16 going on 21. They just need to hire an 18-20 yo actress who could pass for 16. Shouldn't be that difficult.

Oh man, Adams' pics from the set are out there today and they are killing my excitement for this. I was hoping at least, since it's pretty much given with her she does her usual shtick of breathing and simply existing on the screen, she would at least change her look to look the part. But nope. This is gonna be several hours of her little NA scene with Laura Linney

I mean, that's basically what her character is supposed to look like.

No this is just Adams walking around, as usual. What we have here is Libby in Dark Places, she is 2 years late and on the wrong set

It's been a while since I read Sharp Objects and I've forgot most of it by now, but isn't Camille described as short and chubby? Or am I mixing the two characters up? Adams has the right hair for Libby, but otherwise she's a much better fit for this than for Dark Places, both in terms of appearance and of her acting skills.

I could swear she is a slim brunette but I read it right before Gone Girl was in cinemas. The cop who is into her is taken with her and describes her as the most beautiful girl he has ever seen. I always imagined Camille as this Southern Belle type gone dark, elegant, slim, perfect but underneath there all those scars Adams on those photos looks like she is out to buy some groceries. Libby was the one who was short, chubby and her red hair

I don't usually pay much attention to physical descriptions like that unless it's relevant to the story (like Camille's scars and Libby's hair). The thing with casting Adams in this part is that all of Flynn's lead female characters (these two in particular) have a meanness and a bitterness to them that I've never seen her exhibit on screen. They're all fucked up in ways I don't immediately associate with Adams. Hoping she pulls it off, though.

Not once did I see Adams do something like this. I was hoping someone like Rebecca Hall or Ferguson was cast as Camille
