Still have no idea really who The Eternals are; although I guess the little intro was supposed to be for people like me lol. So I get that they’ve watched over humans and helped them, but beyond that I’m still lost.
I like that I didn’t get the usual Marvel feel though except that joke at the end. I can’t say I’m excited to see this, it just depends how I feel when I finally start going to the movies again, but it does look beautiful and I want to see Gemma Chan succeed since she got such a nothing role in Captain Marvel.

They're a group of super humanoids originally created by the legendary Jack Kirby when he returned to Marvel, mostly in a response to the cancellation of his Fourth World comics. It's pretty amazing how much Marvel has managed to get out of the property, given that the original comic only lasted like 12 issues, but then again it is a comic with a lot of lore. As for the teaser, it doesn’t explain the property really well, but then again, it's not supposed to per-say. It's more a collection of cool images hyping the audience up, and in that regard, it succeeds pretty well. My only semi-concern I suppose, is how they'll handle some of the powers on screen. It could be quite chaotic if done wrong.

This looks like the orientation video for an entry-level employee at a Fortune 500 company.

Yep, that looks exactly like a Chloe Zhao joint. Remarkable how even with a big budget and having to play in a sandbox that does all it can to squash auteuristic vision from its filmmakers to fit the formula, it still brims with what makes Zhao such a striking visualist in the first place.

Marvel's Cloud Atlas??? Well, I'm game. Although my cynicism is peaking through with this whole "humanity has accomplished so much" vibe. Maybe it is just the way I was raised, but I don't see humanity as a whole doing so many great things - the race is much more concerned with atrocities and horror than kindness and fluffy bunnies.

"Throughout the years we haven't interfered, until now".
So these fuckers didn't want to interfere when Thanos snapped half of the universe out of existence? They better have a good reason for that in the film.

Well that certainly looks better than anything in Marvel's arsenal so far.

Cloud Atlas vibes are strong and I'm loving that. Sets, cinematography, VFX looks cool af. The jokey bit at the end was hard cringe but everything else is looking good.

I didn't find the joke funny, but that may be because it seems to be rooted in a character's personality - a character with no others lines in the trailer. I am a big sucker for meals in the movies: that's where all of the good character banter happens, when people are free and open with each other. Meals are a sacred time, when people can make bad jokes and their friends can genuinely laugh out of love and close ties. That joke looks more natural than, say, anything with Awkwafina in the Shang-Chi trailer. Edit: Make that anything with Awkwafina. Ever.

This actually looks quite interesting & a bit different/ out there compared to a lot of the assembly line / cookie cutter crap that Kevin Feige has been shoveling out over the years. That was a well made teaser trailer and I wasn't aware of all the talented actors/actresses that were involved in this. I don't know jack shit about the Eternals' characters or what their super powers are but I am intrigued !

It's a damned shame Ike Perlmutter ruined The Inhumans with his terrible TV show for ABC, because they were always Marvel's far more interesting (and popular) version of The Eternals (an Alien-created super-race, living in secret on Earth with a family dynamic).
I feel there is no way Kevin Fiege would have done The Eternals first over The Inhumans, if he had a choice.

It really feels like Fiege would have at least done something better with The Inhumans, instead of the bad hairdo, already deemed failure of a TV Show we got. The Eternals will probably be a fine movie, but damn if the The Inhumans hadn't basically been thrown to the wolves beforehand.

"Screenplay by Chloe Zhao & Chloe Zhao & Patrick Burleigh"
Writing so nice, she was credited twice.

Not even Neil Gaiman managed to make them popular.

Not even Neil Gaiman managed to make them popular. If they were going for the lesser known Marvel team concepts, I actually think Squadron Supreme could have been incredible as a movie adaptation (and I wouldn't put it past Kevin Fiege to do them at some point). Yeah, they are pretty much a Justice League pastiche, but they have actually had some pretty memorable story arcs (like Mark Gruenwald's 80's mini series and the Supreme Power Max arcs and it's various spin-offs). The Eternals never really had any truly compelling story arcs in over 45 years since they first appeared. They are good background characters for other people's stories, imho.

I dunno, seems fine. I just can't get too excited for any of these MCU movies anymore.
