Laura Dern should be in charge of the Academy.

Think it's just a matter of time for Laura. I certainly think she'll be in the conversation next year for Little Women.

Bruce deserves an Honorary Oscar.
Ladd should have won for Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore.
Laura will get on eventually... I hope.

Dern could win if she gets another role like Wild but with far more screentime. Or if a film like The Tale could have made it to theatres. Her more out of character roles where she plays more loud and abrasive characters don’t seem to really pick up any awards steam for her as much as her more quiet and naturalistic work.

Funnily enough, I was thinking about Laura Dern earlier today. I'm fairly confident she'll win an Oscar, probably in the supporting category. She's still relatively young, her career is in a good place, and she's very well respected. Middle aged veterans like Allison Janney and Regina King tend to be really easy coronation picks in the supporting category when the right project comes along, and Laura Dern totally fits that profile with Janney and King.
I don't think her parents will have anymore serious opportunities to win again, considering their ages and where their careers are.

I saw at A_W that Clayton Davis apparently said that Dern was the best thing about the Untitled Noah Baumbach Project, so maybe that will finally be her ticket. Of course, it is Clayton Davis, and Netflix has The Irishman as well as other films to promote too, so who knows how high priority this film will be for them.
